London, England 1890

Trinity stared at her cousin, completely dumbfounded. This was absolutely foolish and yet incredibly exciting.

"Are you sure this is alright?" She whispered to Leo as he jumped over the stone hedge, leading to the Duchess of Sutherland's rose garden.

Leo laughed before pulling her over and sitting her on her feet. "Of course, it'll be fun. Just stay close to me."

Trinity nodded, raising her hand over her lips to keep herself form laughing. He grabbed her hand and they scurried across the many flowers and bushes, heading straight for the Duchess's prized roses. They crouched down and he reached into the inside of his coat, pulling out the clippers in his pocket. He pulled them out and began to cut away at the rose's thorns before handing them off to Trinity.

As Trinity grabbed for the roses she couldn't help but giggle. Leo looked up at her and grinned, mouthing, "Be quiet!"

She nodded though it was hard to contain the laughter that threatened to bubble up and explode inside her. After he had given her twelve roses he stood and pulled her along behind him, running toward the stone hedge. He laughed and she joined him as he lifted her up and carefully slide her over the stone wall before hopping over it himself.

Trinity laughed, hugging the roses close to her chest.

"That was positively marvelous! It was so thrilling! Do you do this often, Leo?" Trinity asked her cousin as he placed his hand arm her shoulder walking calmly alongside her to the waiting carriage.

"Well, not particularly my dear Trinity but it was rather fun wasn't it?" Leo said with a chuckle.

"That was...was...oh, we should do things like this more often." She said as he helped her into the carriage. He gave the footman a nod before hopping in as well, the carriage moving at a leisurely pace.

"You're still as wild as ever," he said with a grin, his blue eyes gleaming, "Do you think they noticed us leaving?"

Trinity tilted her head, "I doubt it, Grandfather was too busy kissing her senseless and Grandmother was too busy swooning."

"Aw, love, it is a wonderful thing, don't you agree dear cousin?" Leo asked with a boyish grin across his face.

Trinity rolled her eyes, "Oh, like you would know, you're just as much of a skirt chaser as you were yesterday."

He laughed again, "That is very true but they've been together for years, forever if you ask me. I think it's absolutely romantic, what all the young maiden's long for!"

The carriage stopped and Leo got out, helping Trinity climb down as well. She shook her head at her cousin, the man was a womanizer through and through and no one was really surprised. It was public knowledge that his father had had the ability to seduce women right out of their pantyhose.

Today marked their Grandparents fortieth anniversary. They had faced years of scorn and adversity together and still to this very day they loved each other like never before.

Every Hugh knew the story of their rocky love story of friendships lost, society forgotten and family made.

Trinity sighed at the thought, it really was rather romantic if one truly thought of it that way.

Leo pulled the door to their Grandparents estate open, and she walked inside, running past the door man who scowled at them.

They moved toward the lounge where the loud chatter of their family resided. They moved into the room and the roses in Trinity's arms caught everyone's attention.

"Happy anniversary!" Leo said as he pulled one of the roses from the bundle in Trinity's arms and handed it to their Grandmother.

She smiled big, her chocolate brown skin gleaming with loving youth as she accepted it in her small hands. "They're beautiful, darling..." She said in absolute awe, "Oh, Adam look at them, these are the most wonderful rose's I've ever laid eyes on!"

Trinity watched as he Grandfather's green cat-like eyes stared at his wife with a passionate intensity that screamed love filled appreciation and she couldn't help but smile.

"I think you're lovelier, Mahala." He mumbled.

The room fell into silence as everyone caught the heated look that past between the two of them.

Jewel, Trinity's mother, suddenly stood, her face flushed red, "Alright, I think this is our cue to say good bye."

Everyone agreed, it was obvious that the two of them wanted time alone. Everyone hugged the two goodbye, promising to come over again later in the week.

Trinity was the last to walk out after handing the bundle of roses to her Grandfather who immediately kissed her lovingly on the forehead. "Thank you, dear." He mumbled, his deep voice one that she had grown up hearing.

She smiled at him and just as she walked out of the room Adam pulled Mahala right up against him and kissed her, evoking a soft sigh of contentment from her lips.

As Trinity walked out of the door she couldn't help but want something as explosive as what her Grandparents had. Little did she know that her wish was about to come true sooner rather than later...
