Chapter 17-

*Sam’s P.O.V*

I walk slowly towards David’s room, the witches body dragging behind me. I knock on the door, it instantly flies open showing David on the other side. His face curls up into a smile when he sees the young child.

He claps his hands together. “That’s the fifth one this week.” He’s clearly pleased with the witches I’ve killed. That’s all I want to do, please him. “How many witches are left in this town?”

I only think for a second. “None, we’ve wiped them all out.”

He smiles, a blood freezing smile. “Good, you’ve drunken them dry, yes?” I nod. “Great!” He says, overjoyed.

“Sir, If I may ask. Why am I to drink them dry?” I ask.

He claps me on the shoulder. “My son, you will have to wait and see.” I nod to show my respect and drop the child’s body by the door. “Now go, I have business to attend to.” He says, slamming the door shut.

I nod even though he can’t see me. As slowly as I came, I walk back to my quarters. We’re probably moving again. That’s all we seem to be doing now. We catch witches, I drink them dry and when they’re all gone we move to a different town.

*Luke’s P.O.V*

I wake up with a start. Something bad is coming, I don’t know how I know that but I do. It’s like a feeling in the pit of my stomach telling me to run. Pushing the feeling back, I leave the bed and take a cold shower. As the cold water runs over my body I remember what happened last night.

The very second I set foot inside my mum was pulling me by the ear into my bedroom. “I told you to never go in those woods!” She had yelled.

“I’m sorry.” Was all I could think of at the time. When she had asked why I ran through them I never told her the real reason; that would just cause more hassle. Turns out because I went into the woods, I’m grounded for a month and that means no video games or phone.

At first I was going to argue with her, but once I saw her fuming face I thought otherwise. After that I just went straight to bed. It was too tiring for me.

I turn off the tap and step out into the room with a towel around my waste. I don’t have to get up as early as yesterday because mum also decided it was best I was trained here. Which I both like and hate. I like it because we don’t have to drive for ages. I hate it because I still have to do it with Marcus.

I quickly get changed and walk into the kitchen. Breakfast was just as I thought it would be like, awkward. The tension between Marcus was so thick you could cut it with a knife, I’m sure the mums notice it too but are choosing to ignore it.

Only when I stepped outside did the tension seem to vanish. “Today I have to teach you how to defend youself.” Marcus says as he walks through the back door. Luckily the backyard is big and surrounded by the woods. I don’t get why mum says to stay out of the woods when the whole town is practically surrounded by it.

“Hallowed ground.” Marcus says with an amused smile. I blush slightly, turning away so he can’t see it. I turn back to him when I’m sure it’s gone and he’s still smiling at me.
