"Daddy, I have to where my pink dress to school tomorrow," I stated as I climbed out the car.
"And why is that ?" He asked while helping me .
"So, I can be very pretty ," I smiled.
"You don't need a dress to be pretty ,"he said .
"Can I get makeup too ?" I asked, ignoring him.
"And why would you need that ?"
"To be pretty ," I sighed .
I stomped my little feet to the front door and waited for him to open the door. He stared at me in disbelief .
"I don't understand, babygirl. "
"Ughh," I groaned .
He opened the door and watched me stomp my way into our home.
"Julianna, your five," he chuckled . "Why are you acting like you have the worst life ever ?"
I started to pout and he laughed even more .
"It's not funny."
He continued to laugh and I started to cry .
"You're mean . Just like Ben,"I shouted and my dad immediately stopped laughing .
He started to think and put two and two together .
"Do you want to be pretty for Ben, Julianna ?" He asked .
"Yes."
"How is he mean ?" He asked.
"He has a new friend ," I cried.
"He's allowed to have other friends, baby girl."
"No!"
I was obviously not into the sharing thing .
"Oh God , I thought I had more time before I would have to deal with this stuff. Okay, Jack," Daddy spoke to himself .
"Julianna, is his new friend a girl like you ?"
"Yes and she wears dresses every day," I exclaimed.
Daddy sighed, picked me up, and sat me on his lap on the couch.
"Time we have a talk,"he sighed."Wipe your eyes."
I did as I was told and crossed my arms .
"Listen, Ben is allowed to have other friends, like you have. It doesn't change anything and you don't have to change anything about yourself to be anyone's friend. You are beautiful and anyone would be lucky to have you as a friend. Okay ?"
"Mhmm."
"Now, what do you want to wear to school tomorrow? "
"Cowboy boots !"
