6 years old

"Julianna , where's your mom ?" Ben asked curiously we sat on the playground slide .
"What ?"
"Your mom ? I have a daddy and a mommy and your daddy is Jack , but I don't know your mom ," he stated .
"I don't know ," I shrugged .
"Does your dad know ?" He asked .
"I don't know," I repeated .
"Well do you have two grandmas and two grandpas ?"
"No, " I shrugged .
"Why  not ?"
" I don't know ."
"Let's ask your dad !" Ben exclaimed.
We slid down and ran to our parents .
"Daddy," I screeched while jumping on his lap.
"Julianna !" He said the same tone.
"Do I have a mom ?" I asked.
"Excuse me ?" Daddy laughed.
"A mom. Ben said I have to have one with a grandpa and grandma ."
"Baby girl," he started .
Daddy looked at Maya and she smiled in a small manner almost as if she was sorry.
"Uhm, yeah of course you do," he nodded.
"I do ! Where ? Maya !"
"That's my mommy !" Ben yelled.
"No sweetie not Maya."
"Who then ?"
" Baby girl, it's a story ."
"Story ?"
"When you're older I'll tell you , okay ?" He proposed.
"I am old, I'm six ."
"Jules ."
I started to tear up.
"I want a mommy !"
This was the first time I cried  for her .
"Julianna ."
"Ben, I think it's nap time," Maya said picking up Ben. "Bye Jack, I'll call you ?"
"Yeah, sure ."
"Bye Julie," Ben smiled.
I cried harder.
"Jules."
More sobs.
"Baby."
More tears.
"Julianna."
More cries.
"Alright let's go home ."
I could tell this was hurting him. He lifted me up and carried my shaking body to the car.
"Baby, please stop crying," he said as he buckled me in .
He got in the front seat and looked at me once in the mirror . A tear streamed down his face . I wiped my eyes and stared back.
"Daddy, you're crying ," I sniffled.
"No, baby ," he lied .
"It's okay daddy," I smiled . "See all better."
He chuckled and wiped one tear, but more fell .
"God, give me strength," he sighed .
" I don't want a mommy," I stayed harshly.
He shook his head and chuckled.
"It's okay Julianna," he said.
"Nope. No mommy, just daddy."
"Alright, Jules."
He nodded and I nodded back . It was our own silent agreement . He wiped his face and started the car . As I looked around in silence, I spotted his face in the mirror. Another tear trickled down his face and that is when I vowed to never ask about my mom again .
