I wake up on Monday, energized.
Skye senses that I'm happier because I actually hug her today.
She sees it in my eyes
My eyes have returned to that public joy.
I bump into Alice on my way to class
My heart sinks to the abyss of my fears
"Hello, Clarity," she says as she smiles.
Sickeningly sweet
"Hi, Alice"
"I noticed that you had a little tantrum when you saw Matthew and I"
I stare at her.
Words fail me.
"Don't worry, Clarity. He just misses me,"she states.
Licking her thin lips.
I stare at her once again.
Manicured nails poised on her hips,
Designer handbag dangling from her shoulder,
Sporting heels too high for school.
I'm frozen.
Not sure if my voice will fail me.
She smiles like she's won this unofficial battle
Strong arms wrap around me.
My knight.
"Clar, come on. Let's get going," he says smiling.
And
I walk away from the battle
