Rangers/Penguins MSG at 7:00! Let's hope for a win tonight!

RANGERS-PENGUINS CONNECTIONS

· Tanner Glass played two seasons with Pittsburgh (2012-13 - 2013-14). Glass played with the Penguins in the Second Round series between New York and Pittsburgh in 2014, and he was a member of the Rangers in the First Round series between the Rangers and Penguins last season.

· The Penguins list two former Rangers on their active roster: Matt Cullen (2006-07) and Carl Hagelin (2011-12 - 2014-15). Hagelin registered six points (four goals, two assists) in 12 playoff games against the Penguins as a member of the Rangers over the last two seasons. In addition, he tallied the game-winning goal in overtime of Game 5 of the First Round last season to eliminate Pittsburgh.

· Mike Sullivan served as an Assistant Coach with the Rangers for four seasons (2009-10 - 2012-13). Sullivan was also selected by the Rangers in the fourth round (69th overall) of the 1987 NHL Entry Draft.

· Dominic Moore played part of one season with the Penguins (2006-07).

· J.T. Miller is a native of East Palestine, OH (approximately 40 miles away from Pittsburgh). Miller was born in 1993, the year after Pittsburgh won its second consecutive Stanley Cup (1990-91 – 1991-92). With hockey growing in the Pittsburgh area following the Penguins' success, J.T.'s father, Dennis, encouraged him to play the sport as a youth. Miller's favorite players growing up were Mario Lemieux, Jaromir Jagr, and Alexei Kovalev.

· Eric Staal and Matt Cullen were teammates with the Hurricanes for parts of four seasons (2005-06; 2007-08 – 2009-10) and helped Carolina win the Stanley Cup in 2005-06.

· Kevin Klein and Patric Hornqvist were teammates with Nashville for parts of six seasons (2008-09 – 2013-14).

· Viktor Stalberg and Patric Hornqvist were teammates with Nashville for one season (2013-14).

· Chris Kreider and Brian Dumoulin were teammates at Boston College for three seasons (2009-10 – 2011-12) and won two National Championships (2009-10 and 2011-12). Kreider, Dumoulin, and Kevin Hayes were all teammates for two seasons (2010-11 – 2011-12).

· Tanner Glass and Ben Lovejoy were teammates at Dartmouth College for three seasons (2004-05 – 2006-07).

· Ryan McDonagh, Derek Stepan, and Justin Schultz were teammates at the University of Wisconsin for one season (2009-10).

· Oscar Lindberg and Oskar Sundqvist were teammates with Skelleftea in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL).

· Derek Stepan and Sidney Crosby both played high school hockey at Shattuck-St. Mary's in Minnesota (Stepan from 2006-07 – 2007-08; Crosby in 2002-03).

· Derick Brassard and Kris Letang are both natives of Quebec (Brassard is from Hull; Letang is from Montreal). Brassard and Letang helped Team Canada earn a silver medal at the 2005 IIHF U18 World Championship.

· Tanner Glass' first NHL head coach was current Penguins Assistant Coach Jacques Martin (2007-08 with Florida).

· Marc Staal, Eric Staal, and Matt Murray are all natives of Thunder Bay, ON.

· Nick Bonino is a native of Hartford, CT and played high school hockey at Avon Old Farms. Several NHL players played high school hockey at Avon Old Farms, including Rangers legend Brian Leetch.

· Ulf Samuelsson played parts of five seasons with the Penguins (1990-91 - 1994-95) and won the Stanley Cup twice with Pittsburgh (1990-91 and 1991-92).

· Glen Sather played parts of two seasons with the Penguins (1969-70 - 1970-71).

· Penguins Executive Vice President and General Manager Jim Rutherford selected Eric Staal with the second overall pick in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft when he was the President/General Manager of the Carolina Hurricanes.

INDIVIDUAL CAREER STATISTICS VS. PENGUINS (Statistics are only from playoff games)

- Henrik Lundqvist – 20 GP, 10-9, 2.05 GAA, .929 SV%, 1 SO – In his last 11 playoff appearances against Pittsburgh (since Game 5 of the Second Round in 2014), Lundqvist has posted an 8-2 record, along with a 1.52 GAA and a .948 SV%. He has allowed one goal in eight of the 11 contests over the span.

- Derick Brassard – 15 GP, 8-4-12 – Brassard has recorded a point in eight of his last 11 playoff games against the Penguins, dating back to Game 5 of the Second Round in 2014 (seven goals, four assists over the span).

- Mats Zuccarello - 15 GP, 2-6-8 - Zuccarello has tallied a point in two of the Rangers' three games against Pittsburgh in the 2016 Playoffs (one goal, one assist) and has notched eight points (two goals, six assists) in his last 12 playoff contests against the Penguins.

Since the start of the 2012 Playoffs, Henrik Lundqvist has posted a 22-12 record, along with a 1.90 GAA, a .934 SV%, and 4 SO in 34 playoff games which have followed a Rangers loss. Entering tonight's contest, Lundqvist has started 113 consecutive playoff games with the Rangers, dating back to Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals on Apr. 26, 2006 against New Jersey. He is one of three goaltenders in NHL history who have started at least 100 consecutive playoff games with one franchise (Martin Brodeur - New Jersey; Patrick Roy - Colorado). Lundqvist also enters tonight's game with 114 career playoff appearances with the Rangers. With his next appearance, Lundqvist will pass Patrick Roy for sole possession of fourth place in career playoff appearances by a goaltender with one franchise in NHL history. In addition, Lundqvist has appeared in 799 career games with the Rangers (regular season and playoffs combined) entering tonight's contest (685 regular season appearances, 114 playoff appearances).

Since the start of the 2012 Playoffs, Lundqvist leads all NHL goaltenders (min. 40 appearances over the span) in SV% (.930). He leads active NHL goaltenders in playoff wins (55) and appearances (114), and he is tied for first among active NHL goaltenders in playoff shutouts (nine). Through the first three games of the 2016 Playoffs, Lundqvist has posted a .968 SV% in even strength situations (60 saves on 62 shots).
