Chapter 5

"Hello, how may I help you?"
Said the girl at the front desk, cashier, whatever that thing was called.

"Hey ummm, this may seem weird, but I'm lost and you guys are my only hope."
I smiled gently trying to gain her trust.

"Oh my God! You're British?!"
She was excited for some reason.

"Uhh, yes. Yes I am."
I was confused.

"Oh this is so cool, say genuinely!"

She looked 16, I wasn't going to judge her.

"Uhh, genuinely?"

"This is hilarious! Wait until my friends know of this."
She laughed.

"Now say basically!"
She squealed again.

"Ummm, excuse me?"
I was offended.

"Please please I've never heard it from a British before!"

"Demoiselle, I have no time. There was an order placed yesterday, two Chinese meals and a pizza. Can you dig that up?"
I was starting to get mad.

"Ohh! French! J'aime!"

"That's not how- forget it. Dig it up please, I need you to find it and tell me the delivery address."

"I'm sorry Ma'am we don't offer that kind of service."
She refused.

I was about to yell at her, when I felt someone pat my shoulder.

"I got this."
He said making me step away.

He talked to her for like 5 minutes while she giggled almost all the time, and then he was back with a piece of paper.

"Let's go."
He said moving forward.

"How did you- huh?"
I was confused.

"Just c'mere."
He said and grabbed my hand.

I was finally going to that place my mother now calls home.

He lead the way through the tall grey buildings, I missed the trees back home.

Soon enough, we were standing in front of that same old 20 floors building.

"You live here?"
He sounded surprised.

"Yeah, why?"

"Nah I'm just asking, so you're safe now huh?"

"Yeah, thank you so much... Uh..."
I remembered that I didn't get his name.

"Ellie."

"Ellie? You're french too?"
I was exited.

"Nah, I'm fully American. But my mum loves the name."

"Yeah, it's a pretty name."
I blushed.

"Yeah but I bet yours is better, huh?"

"Melody. I'm Melody."

"That's so cool, I love it."

"Thanks."
I blushed as a smile escaped to my mouth.
