Chapter 23

Lisa's POV

I kept the kids busy. We're in the backyard, playing with their pets. Seyanna's feeding her rabbit while Nicky's running around with Jacob.

"Do you kids want ice cream?" I asked.

"Yes please!" the twins said in unison. I smiled.

"Put your pets inside, I'll get my car keys." I said. The twins nodded then went inside with their pets.

I got my keys then took out my phone.

"I'm taking the kids out for ice cream." I texted Christina.

"Just be home before lunch." Christina replied.

"Okayy." I replied then kept my phone.

The kids are ready.

"Let's go." I said then we walked to my car.

I opened the door for them then sat on the driver's seat.

"Put your seat belts on." I said. They put their seat belts on.

I started driving. Few minutes later we're at the ice cream shop. We entered.

"What flavor do you guys want?" I asked.

"Mint chocolate chip." the twins said in unison.

They high fived. I smiled.

"You guys find a place where we can sit. I'll buy our ice cream." I said. They found a place near the door.

I went to the cashier to order.

"Two mint chocolate chip and one rocky road please." I said.

The cashier handed me a tray with our ice creams on it. I paid.

I walked to our place. I sat across the twins then handed them their ice cream. We had little conversations while eating our ice creams.

I'm so relieved that the twins didn't ask why I kept them busy. They don't have to know Christian and Lauren's thing, they're too young.

"Lise, why did you treat us?" Yanna asked.

On second thought, I take what I said back. I'm not relieved. They're starting to be suspicious. Lise, you need to come up with an excuse that they'll buy.

"I just want to treat you guys." I said.

They smiled. Good job Lise, they bought it. I looked at the time, 15 minutes before lunch.

"We need to go. Christina said we need to be home before lunch." I said. The twins finished their ice creams then we walked to my car.

I opened the door for them again then went to my seat and started driving. We're home 7 minutes before lunch.

"Oh, there you guys are." Christina said with a relieved tone.

Is she mad? I don't think so. Yayyy.

We sat down on our places.

"Where's Lauren?" Christina asked.

"I don't know. We were out all morning." I said. Christina gave me a look.

"She went upstairs after I bandaged her hand." Christian said.

"Nick please go tell Lauren that lunch is ready." Christina said. Nicky nodded then ran up the stairs.

She came down few seconds later with Lauren behind her. Lauren's rubbing her eyes so I think she just woke up. She sat on her place then we started eating.
