Make sure your locker stays neat. My whole eighth grade year my locker was a wreak and it made school feel terrible. That might be an overexageration, but you get the point.

You will most likely have at least two books, maybe two or more binders, and three to four notebooks (this will vary on schools and teachers).

You need to make sure that your locker stays clean. Don't put food in your locker and not take it home or give it to someone or throw it away. Any papers that you don't want or need, need to be recycled or thrown away (depending on your school's policy).

Use any shelf spacing possible. The more shelf spacing you use the better. Don't stack things on the floor of you locker.

The less the better. The less things you have in your locker the better. You can decorate your locker but don't go over board.
