Noah's PoV
I knocked on the door of Eldon's house, my knuckles banging painfully against the wood. Ouch. Ugh come on Eldon! It's cold out here. Not like it mattered much to me. The cold never bothered me, I was more worried about the little person clutching tightly onto my hand. I really did not take in account of the changing weather when dressing her this morning. She must be freezing! Dressed in only a pure cotten dress and little cardigan, I swear I could see her knees wobble from the harsh wind. I dragged her against my leg to get some heat before knocking on the door once more.
"Eldon! DUDE! Hurry up! It's cold out here."
I yelled, hoping he would here me through the dense wood. I pressed relentlessly against the doorbell.
"Daddy. I'm cold."
Mumbled Sophia into my knee. Oh monkey! It will be okay. We'll be inside soon.
"Shush..it's alright"
I reassured her, stroking my hand down her hair.
"ELDON! Sophia is freezing!"
I yelled again. I started once more to knock against the door but before I could complete the action, the door flew open with a slam! Well..there goes the hinges. There stood in the entrance of the studio was Eldon. In his hands he held a bottle while his eyes glistened with happiness. In the distance I heard some yelling and music. So that's why he didn't hear me!
"Yo, Noah! Hey dude, what took you so long?"
He exclaimed happily. I believe the contents of his bottle is to blame for his over excited attitude. Alcohol. I crossed my arms before looking at him in disbelief.
"Really?"
I asked blankly. He looked back at me with a confused expression.
"What took me so long? Dude! I've been standing out here for nearly ten minutes!"
I replied a little angered. I felt Sophia move against me before running towards him.
"Uncle Eld.."
She squealed, jumping into his arms. I watched as Eldon's eyes widened in surprise before lifting her up into his lap.
"Heya Soph!"
He replied happily, poking at her belly. Careful Eldon! I don't want any of your beer falling on her dress. Richelle would kill me if I came home with our daughter smelling of alcohol.
"Careful!"
I warned, pointing towards the bottle in his hand. He looked down at the bottle before placing Sophia on the ground carefully.
"Hey Soph! Why don't you go to the living room? I'm sure uncle Max is dying to see you!"
He exclaimed cheerfully, pointing towards a door at the end of the corridor. I watched as my daughters eyes widened with glee as she started to jump and down.
"Really?!"
She squealed excitedly.
"Yeah! Now go! You know where the living room is, right?"
He asked her. I watched as she jumped up and down again.
"Of course I do!"
She boasted before running down the hall. Please do not trip! Blood and alcohol will certainly mean I'll be killed by Richelle. I watched as she skipped down the hall before disappearing out of view.
"Dude, you coming in or not? It's pretty chilly."
Chilly? You kidding me Eldon? I know it's freaking chilly! I decided it would be best not to argue with him any further in his alcoholic state and so just walked in through the door. As we walked through the corridor, I couldn't help but realise how quiet Eldon was being. Huh? That's not like him
"So dude....Richelle's pregnant, huh?"
What?! I stopped suddenly in the middle of the corridor to look at him, shocked! How the bloody hell did he know that?!
"James told me"
He responded blankly. Oh of course! Of course James bloody told him. James can't hold a secret to save his life.
"I guess congratulations are in order. Come on, I think I have a few beers left in the fridge."
He said happily, pushing an arm around my shoulders and guiding me through a door on the left. Great. My life is perfect isn't it! Please note the sarcasm. First Richelle is going to kill me for coming home with Sophia smelling of alcohol and now she is going to blame me for telling everyone about the baby. I concentrate on guiding myself through the door. I knew where he was directing me. The living room.
Walking into the room further I couldn't help but notice a few things. There scattered around the floor was the boys. West and James sat on a sofa on one side of the tv whereas Max and Alfie sat on another sofa opposite it. Both Henry and LaTroy sat on the floor leaning back against it. As I glanced around the room further, I couldn't help but notice two arm chairs also. I'm guessing one for was Eldon...so does that mean one is for me? The tv portrayed a fighting game and I watched as Alfie clicked on the buttons of a controller furiously. I'm guessing he's playing, but who is he against. Oh god! What is that smell? I can also notice some other things to! Like the putrid fragrance of alcohol. Bottles upon bottles were littering the floor of the room. No wonder Eldon was acting drunk. Ugh. Why is the volume on the tv so high? I can almost hear a ringing in my ear. I mean come on! Turn it down! If it's bad for me, I can't help but wonder what it may be like for Sophia.
"Dudes! Can you turn it down?!"
I yelled, hoping for them to hear me. Luckily they did.
"Yo Noe! You're here! Finally. Do you want your little person back, she is getting a little...let's say...clingy..."
Exclaimed a voice in the corner. I turned to Henry, only to find Sophia climbing onto his lap in an attempt to get a hold of the PlayStation controller. How did I never notice that before?
"Yo Noah! Please dude! I really..really am not the biggest fan of kids...like at all.."
Complained Henry again, shifting back against the sofa to try and get away from her. Oh Sophia! She can't help it...but I can't help but admit...seeing him cowering away from my three foot daughter is hilarious.
I guess I should release him from his misery. I knew he didn't like children..but I didn't think it was this bad. I slowly started to walk over to them but was soon dragged backwards down into one of the empty arm chairs. Guess I was right! One of them was for me
"Dude! Just a little longer. You've got to admit..it is pretty funny!"
Mutters a voice from beside me. I realised it was in fact James who had pulled me down. He stared at the scene with great amusement. Great! Just the person I was looking for. I need to talk to him about a little thing called 'secrets'. I looked around to see that everyone was focused on the scene in front of them to notice anything.
"James?"
I asked him to get his attention. I pulled on his shoulder and whispered in his ear once more.
"You are terrible at keeping secrets. Eldon? Dude seriously?"
I felt him go tense under the arm I held on his shoulder. He turned to me in embarrassment.
"Sorry man! It just kind of...slipped out.."
He mumbled shrugging his shoulders.
"Also...how was I supposed to know you wanted to keep it a secret?"
He questioned. Ugh! He's right. I never really specified that he couldn't tell anyone. I suppose it won't be much of a secret anyway. With the amount of people who was there to witness the announcement, I'm actually surprised not more people know.
"Nah dude, it alright. Your right! I guess it isn't much of a secret."
I exclaimed before turning away to him. I watched once more as Henry held the controller up towards the sky to stop Sophia from reaching it. What he didn't realise was that the action only made Sophia climb ontop of him even more. Resulting in him flinching back to not touch her any more than necessary. What I don't understand is why she is trying to reach the controller?
"Umm...guys? Why is my daughter trying really desperately to get the controller?.."
I questioned towards the room. Only Max and Alfie turned to look towards me.
"I told Soph that she could play with me if she got Henry's controller..."
Exclaimed Max, his eyes glistening with mischief. Ah! Of course it would be him. Henry and him always like teasing each other. Sophia loves Max so much that she would do anything he told her to do.
"To be honest, I kind of asked him to. I'm getting really bored of beating Henry at this game"
Responded Alfie, as he once more took down Henry's character in the screen. No wonder Alfie won, I don't think I've seen Henry even touch his controller since I got here.
"Oh.."
I replied. Ugh, I guess it's time to end Henry's torture. I quickly got up from the comfort of the seat before walking now towards the scene. I ignored the grumbles of the other guys telling me to stop, quickly grabbing the controller out of Henry's hand before also reaching down and grabbing Sophia also.
"Hey!"
I heard Henry complain. I ignored him as I started to talk to Sophia.
"Hey monkey...do want to play with me?"
I asked her, shaking the controller up and down in front of her. She looked at it with wide eyes.
"No! I want to play with uncle Max.."
She pouted. Oh fine then! She can play with Max.
"Alright."
I replied walking over to Max, dropping Sophia down into his lap and the controller in his hands, carefully. I watched as Max shifted her position to make her more comfortable before placing the controller in her tiny hands. The console wasn't on but she was still able to play with the buttons. I walked back over to my seat before sitting down in it. I forgot how comfy this chair used to be. I could...could...sleep...
"Yo Noe! I know children can be tiring but you are here to hang out not sleep!"
Mutters a voice, while tapping on my shoulder. Ugh, no! I just want to sleep. I look up only to see Eldon handing a beer to me. I suppose one can't hurt. I flip open the cap before going to take a sip of the liquid.
"Dude! I don't know how you're going to cope. If you're this tired with Sophia I can't imagine what it will be like when Richelle gives birth to your next little bundle of joy"
Oh shit! ELDON!

Okay I left it on a bit of a cliffhanger but you probably expected that. So you may have noticed I changed a few things. It's not much but I think it makes the book look and read better. I hope you enjoy
