Her fingers drum against the table's surface
A question escaped her lips
Waiting for a reply

His mouth remains shut, his mind slowly turning
An answer forming in his mind
Waiting to be said

Her pen flies across the page
An answer which she heard
Recording every word

His voice cracks in unexpected places
An answer which he told
His mind, still wavering

The time slowly ticks on the wall
How long of a silence? he wonders

The time slowly ticks on the wall
How thorough of an answer? she wonders

A question
An answer
A Q and shaky A

Is that all an interview ever is?
