ix. Broken Promises

You promised me a forever
You told me long ago
But never have I been more deceived
By you, brought down to woe

You gave me your heart, I gave you mine
You promised never to lie
You told me you loved me, I returned your favour
Then you left, and I wondered why

I realize, with time flown by
That you've never meant what you said
That the words you once said to me
Were from not your heart, but your head

To trick me, to insult me
To think I'm nothing to you
I couldn't have been more grateful
To say that we were through.
