xvii. Winter's Fire

19 3 2

Originally for a competition but I didn't manage to finish it in time, so I'm just going to see how it'll do now.

The snowflakes dance through the chilly air
Floating in patterns so unpredictable
A sign that winter is here

Children play and laugh outside
Building snowmen, or having a snowball fight
Their warm laughter rings with joy

All around, people sing songs of cheer
Their happy tones warming the hearts of others
Bringing everyone closer together

A hot cocoa and glove in hand
A sip, warming the soul and heart
The smile, so genuine, glows bright

Snow and ice may numb and freeze
But with happiness and hope aglow
Winter's fire, the soft light, lives on.
