Phil was aware that he had school in the morning but found himself turning off his alarm at midnight again. He stumbled out of bed and pulled on some shoes. He blindly wandered down the stairs before opening his front door. He spent a couple of minutes to closing it though, hoping not to make any noise.

He hummed as he walked down the street, a tiny skip into his step. He was hoping that Dan would be at the hill so that they could talk.

He reached the base of the hill and walked up to the top. He hoped and hoped that he would see Dan's (beautiful) face but sadly, the space where Dan would lie was empty. Phil let out a tiny sigh at his absence. He dropped down so he was laying on his back and stared up at the sky.

He wished they could be friends..

-

"Philip Michael Lester, where on earth have you been?" Phil's mum snapped as soon as Phil walked in the door. It was pushing five in the morning: Phil had literally dozed off whilst he was on the hill.

"I went for an early morning walk." Phil muttered and he heard a short laugh. That was when he noticed his brother standing behind his mum, his arms folded as he tried his hardest not to burst out laughing.

"This isn't the first time," Martyn chipped in, smirking. "Earlier in the week I saw him come back at four and I saw him leave the house at midnight! I think he's hiding something!"

"Is this true, Philip?"

"No, he's making that up!"

"What aren't you telling us?" Phil's mum's voice was gentle, as if she was worried. "Are you getting involved in the wrong crowd?" Phil rapidly shook his head. He wasn't sure what to tell his mum: it would probably sound weird if he just came out and said that he was meeting some guy at the top of a hill. How insane would that sound! "Then what's going on?"

"Nothing. I just like walking."

"Phil.."

"Nothing is happening."

-

Phil felt like a zombie as he lazily walked into school. He had his galaxy backpack on his back, despite it being completely empty. He had to go to reception to collect his timetable.

He was walking there as someone yelled his name. It made him jolt round to find that Louise was running towards him, a wide grin on her face.

"Louise." Phil mumbled, a lot less enthusiastic than his friend.

"Where are you going?" Louise said once she had her breath back.

"Reception. I need my timetable." Louise narrowed her eyes as she noticed Phil's lack of enthusiasm. She had only known him a few days but she was aware of the fact that he was always really happy and positive.

"Are you alright?"

"Yeah.. just tired." Yeah and physically dead. Phil made a mental night to not stay out until five am every day. Not a good idea.

"Are you sure that that's all?"

"Yeah.." Phil pushed open the door to reception and wandered over to the desk. "I need my timetable." The receptionist quickly nodded and passed a piece of paper to Phil.

"Have a lovely day."

"You too." Phil threw back before walking back to Louise who was standing by the door.

"What do you have first?"

"English."

"Me too!"
