“What makes you a Guess girl?”

“I believe Guess represents spontaneity, youth and freedom. And that’s me, spontaneous, young and carefree.” I stated vigorously, the panellists shrug and seem convinced. “Like when I chose to wear this lame shirt today, though my best friend hated it.” I finish off, mocking myself.

The three panellists snickers.

“Okay then, Miss Scott. Thank you!” Mister Gibson stated.

The secretary then escorted all five of us outside the holding room. She instructed to return this afternoon for the announcement of the urgent result of the deliberation of the panellists.

(A/N: See Valerie's batman graphic shirt at the side. Isn't that the cutest?)

“There were two stand-outs.” Miss D’Amato announces to all the hopefuls huddled before her.

I am standing at the back of all the other girls who are impatiently waiting for the result. I am not expecting to be chosen but I am hoping. It would be such a privilege to wear the esteemed brand and be featured in their magazines and billboards.

“Miss Dana Berkley from iStyle Model Management…” She informs, scanning the small crowd.

Dana cheers and everyone else around here. She raises her brow, rolls her eyes at me and smirk. Her expression sending a message in your face, Valerie Scott. I just look down timidly, avoiding her glare. She did great earlier. Fair enough, she’s been modelling for five years now. She has blonde straight hair, two inches taller than me, her body is like an hourglass. Who wouldn’t choose her?

“… and Miss Valerie Scott from iStyle Model Management as well.”

“Me?” I mutter to myself. Wait what? Is this freaking serious? My name is called but couldn’t sink in to my thoughts. I couldn’t even respond to everything that’s happening around me.

“Miss Valerie Scott, where are you?” Miss D’Amato hollers.

“She’s here!” Dana yells and drags me to the front with her. What surprised me is when her smirk turned into a wide happy grin, squeezing my arms, acting so thrilled for the both of us. Plastic!

“Okay, the rest of you girls can now leave. I’m sorry, better luck next time.” Miss D’Amato’s secretary sways the other girls to leave the premises.

As the girls leave, some of them congratulated Dana and me. Things are completely not right. They would just usually ignore me all the time.

“You two, in my office.” Miss D’Amato persuades, waving her hand in. We follow her to her office and sit on the chair by her office table.

Miss D’Amato sits comfortably on her chair. She places both her hands on her rosewood table as she push her head forward to us.

“Okay, so the original plan is there could only be one new Guess girl that we are going to feature in our magazine and in our billboards…” She stated.

I scoot to the edge of my seat, anticipating her next words.

“But since you did great earlier and we think you embody the personality of Guess, we are choosing both of you.”
