Why do we celebrate birthdays?
Why are they such a big deal?
Isn't it just a way of saying that you're growing older,
wiser, slowly rotting from the inside?
Or maybe celebrating our birthday reminds us that we are
in fact,
living
breathing
And most definitely alive
We are here and will live to see another year
Well, the lucky ones will
Because some don't get to embrace a new season
a new change
a new year
Their birth
day could be cut short, bright lights calling
from the other side
