{ her flowered ring }

She held the flowered ring,

she held it with love and tenderness,

with her fingers pale and trembling.

Her vision blurred with memories of the past,

when her one and only Ian

held her hand.

She remembered his caressing touch,

his intense gaze, somewhat melancholic eyes,

that held the gloomy shades of a sea where the storm terrifies its creatures in the abyss

and consumes the sky into thick darkness.

She remembered his deep, soft voice,

how it sent shivers down her spine,

how at the same time he made her feel so safe,

so loved.

She touched her cheek ever so gently,

feeling the ghosts of his kisses,

his whispers against her skin.

She remembered how it felt to sift her fingers through his hair whenever they gazed into each other's eyes,

how she was always beaming,

and his lips were always graced with a breathtaking smile.

The memories of him, the images of his brilliant, beautiful soul comforted her.

Only his death didn't.

So as she held her flowered ring,

she tried to remember,

how he knelt one knee down,

how his entire face glowed with blissful happiness,

how he took the velvet blood red box with boyish haste,

how his eyes said what his lips moved to,

I love you.

Nothing else had to be said.

She said yes.

Fate said no.

He died.

She lived.

And she held her engagement ring,

one so intricately etched with flowers,

and Ian's undying love.

A/N: I'm trying to write something sad that could break your heart but right now I'm just not feeling it. I AM A FAILURE.
