Different But The Same

Chapter 8

During the ride, both force users sat in the cockpit as Anakin captained the ship to his home where his wife and kids were waiting for them. "So...what's your family like??" Ezra asked with curiosity and nervousness; Anakin smiled as he thought of his small family "they're amazing" he beamed "Padme is my wife, she's just so...loving and caring, I guess you could say she's a lot like Hera" that indeed sounded like the woman "and then there's the twins - Luke and Leia...well more like two little four year old terrors" he explained with a chuckle "they like to course a little bit of trouble...but really, they're great". Ezra couldn't help but smile "sounds like you did good" he complimented earning a proud beam from the man. Finally, Anakin parked the ship and the two left, Ezra hurried to grab his bag and follow the Jedi through a door and up an elevator; they entered yet another door after Anakin unlocked it. They saw a woman in the kitchen and two toddlers sat in the living room drawing "I'm home!!" Anakin announced, a wide smile decoration his face and he knew what was about to happen; his two children instantly jumped up and rushed over as they yelled "daddy!!". Ezra watched as the kids jumped into their father's arms who embraced them both tightly "hey babies, have you been good for mummy??" the man asked - before either could respond, the woman exited the kitchen and approached them "they've been brill, other then when Leia decided to put her barbie doll down the toilet and Luke decided to do the same with my hair brush". Em...okay?? The two adults shared a kiss and hug "hello dear" she greeted with a smile. 

Luke, looking away from the 'gross' scene, noticed Ezra stood by the door, one hand in his pocket and the other holding the strap of his bag that was on his shoulder "daddy, who's he??" the toddler pointed over as they turned to look; Anakin smiled as the teen looked slightly awkward. Who could blame him?? "Guys, this is Ezra Bridger" he introduced with a smile "Ezra, this is my wife Padme, and the little terrors Luke and Leia" the woman, Padme, greeted the teen by embracing him "it's nice to finally meet you Ezra, I've heard so much about you" the teen sent the Jedi Knight a raised brow which made them chuckle "don't worry, all good things" Ezra sent her his own smile "likewise Mrs Skywalker" he might have lived on the streets for most of his life but the kid knew what manners where. Padme reassured the boy after laughing that he could call her by her name before smiling at her husband "a gentleman, you could learn a thing or two Ani" she joked. Anakin placed the twins back down onto their feet before showing the Padawan to where he would be staying - it was the room at the end of the hall "whoa" the teen was impressed, although that wasn't exactly hard to do. "Unpack then come join us" Anakin instructed with a smile "dinner should be ready in twenty and we're having spaghetti bolognese" the man left as Ezra did as told - it only took him five minutes as he only had two tops, a pair of jeans, an orange hoodie, pants and socks, as well as his jumpsuit which he was wearing of course. Talking of clothes, the boy decided to change into the jeans and a grey V-neck - the jumpsuit needed washing. 

Now finished, Ezra left the room after placing his bag on top of the wardrobe; he entered the living area to see the twins still playing in front of the holo-screen which was showing an episode about some dog talking dog called Scooby Doo - it seemed to be one of their favorite shows - whilst the two adults were stood in the kitchen. By the looks of it, Anakin was being told off for something. "I asked you to do one thing Ani" the boy heard Padme lightly lecture before noticing him "ahh!! Ezra" she greeted with a smile "you don't happen to know how to make bolognese sauce, do you??" she asked with hope "I normally use a jar but we ran out and Mr forgetful over here forgot to go to the shop on his way home". Ezra couldn't help but smile and laugh before answering the woman "I do actually, my mum used to make the best bolognene sauce ever" he stated, remembering the taste was nearly making his drool on the spot "I'll go get her diary" and with that, he hurried away and back, this time a small book in hand. Anakin left to go set the table whilst his wife and their guest cooked, the teen looking at his mother's diary every few minutes and mumbling what he was reading - he'd take his time reading which confused Padme a little. Soon enough, the food was ready and plated before being set on the table, everyone now sat in a seat and eating up their food - the twins had a small side bowl of vegetables. "Whoa Ezra, this is amazing" Anakin complimented, followed by his wife "indeed, your mother really was quite the chef" the teen smiled as he knew everyone loved his mum's cooking - the kids being...well kids, just ate up.....except their veggies. 

Leia didn't mind having to eat her vegetables...but her brother on the other hand....well he was always a bit of a fussy eater. "Luke" Padme said with a warning tone "eat all of your food or else no dessert" now for a child, that was a well and true threat...but it appeared Luke wasn't having any of it "no!! I hate veggies!! They're yucky!!" he exclaimed - both force users and Padme had to re-frame from laughing although the woman did sigh - that's when Ezra remembered a little old Lothal trick that his parents used on him quite a few times. "Hey Luke" he spoke, catching the toddlers attention "what??" Ezra held back his smirk as he began to plan "when I was your age, I hated eating my veggies but you wanna know what I found out??" as the sentence began to end, the Padawan turned his voice into a whisper, as if he was about to reveal a secret - this really ignited the child's interest as he lent forward in his seat "what?! What did your find out?!" he asked, pushing to find out the big discovery; Ezra smiled "if you eat all your veggies and whatever is on your plate, you grow up to be super strong". At this new information, Luke's eye widened with amazement and gasped "really!? Like Superman super strong??". The Padawan chuckled as he nodded "yeah, like Superman super strong" he agreed "but I guess you don't want to be that strong if you don't want to eat up all your food" after hearing this, Luke began to freak out "what?! No no no!! I want to be super strong like Superman!!" and with that, he began to hurry and eat up all of his food. Next to speak was Leia "I want to be strong like Superman too!!" she exclaimed, glaring at her brother who continued to stuff his face; it made the three chuckle once again before Ezra spoke up "and you can be, you've just got to eat up all of your food, especially your veggies" nothing more had to be said as the little girl began to copy her brother.

Whilst the twins fell quiet as they ate up, Ezra turned his head towards the couple who were both sending him a smirk - Anakin winked at the boy as a "good work" whilst his wife mouthed "thank you". The Padawan sent them a small nod before returning his focus to his food. They talked whilst eating their dessert, followed by watching some holonet before the twins went to bed after their dad read them a story. It was then, when she and the boy were alone, Padme asked Ezra to explain his past - lets just say she ended up in tears. Once that explanation was over, Anakin was already back from tucking his kids in bed and so they turned their attention back to the holo-screen before turning in for the night.
