Dear, Solis

Solis, my love,
you beat down upon the Earth with your heated rays.
You ruthlessly burn the creatures of dawn,
do you care about them as I do?

You dry up Gaia's life giving waters,
turning lakes into wastelands.
Then you melt her snow,
prematurely returning it back to her.

Setting your flaws aside,
I am still happy to see you in the morning.
We are always parallel,
but never intersecting.

While you scorching day to one side,
I bring a healing night to the other.
We keep things in balance,
keep things in tune.

I catch glimpses of you at a time,
never the full frame.
Yet somehow,
It is enough to keep me going until I see you again.

I see how you look at me,
when our eyes meet.
It is just as longing,
loving.

We will meet one day,
perhaps in the face of colliding worlds.
Or not at all,
and we'll be alone forever.

Promise me,
if we really don't meet,
that you'll still look at me,
as if I'm the one giving you hope.
