There were times where Troye wondered whether it would've been better for him to remain as a selfish person. One that was wrapped up in their own life, too busy focusing on scoring another date or writing music or back chatting teachers and above all, not bothering to ever acknowledge nor even consider the background of the boy that was Connor Franta.

Evidently, his life had been a heck of a lot easier prior to his interactions with Connor. He had never experienced what he would come to know as the feeling of truly caring about someone that wasn't Blessing, Caspar or his family. He wouldn't have had to deal with this newly formed curiosity of the other boys life and lost his ability of reading people. He wouldn't experience the feeling of nerves at the very pit of his stomach, or the sensation of a heart beating a million times faster than what was considered 'normal'.

He wouldn't like Connor Franta. Really like him, that is.

It was probably idiotic to put all of this into context, what with Connor and Troye being stuck in an extremely claustrophobic room, but Troye couldn't help but think about it.

His thoughts were startled by Connor's hand gripping around his wrist, grabbing Troye's attention almost instantly as he instructed Troye to stay completely silent. The other boy was quick enough to comply, his earlier movement ceasing as he began to resemble a statue.

What he couldn't help but notice (and allow to be the cause of the slight stuttering of his heart) was that Connor was still in close contact with him, the warmness of his palm contrasting majorly with the coolness of his own skin. It was almost electrifying, the type of thing that made him feel breathless and hopeless and ecstatic all at once.

Troye hadn't realised he had been holding his breath until he felt Connor's thumb move against him in an almost unnoticeable fashion. The boys eyes locked and Troye swore he was about to stop breathing again when he saw the way Connor's pupils dilated.

"See? There's not a single person in here." Mrs Harts voice was beginning to resonate clearer in the otherwise empty room, and Troye felt the grip on his wrist tighten due to what he anticipated was fear from Connor.

Each footstep from their headteacher felt tentative and uncertain, and a part of Troye wondered whether she actually knew that they were in the room. After all, she was aware that Connor was in regular attendance at the library no matter what state it was in, and Troye was the type of 'troublemaker' to turn up in a place he clearly wasn't welcome staying in.

The moment she paused in front of their cupboard, both boys were locked in a trance, and worryingly it was on each other and not on the fact they could get caught and expelled at any given second.

They only stirred a little when they felt the handle of the door twist, but it seemed fate had been on their side when Mrs Hart's phone lightly chimed in her pocket. She was silent for a few moments, her hand still rested on doorknob, until something on the other end of the line made her jump away.

"What do you mean two boys were caught fraternizing in the school toilets this morning? Who let them out of class?"

Troye's stomach dropped when it clicked in his head who his teacher was talking about, and it seemed Connor was equally as distressed.

"Well you can tell Mr Lee and Mr Sugg to make their way to my office immediately. I won't tolerate that kind of behaviour under my school."

Troye was tempted to make a smart-ass comment about how the very same teacher had shared booze with him a few weeks earlier, but ultimately decided this situation was neither the time nor place to do so.

"I'll be there is five minutes. Make sure whatever happened doesn't spread around the school okay? I don't think some people would be exactly nice about it, do you?"
