CIA sat outside, the sun drifting towards the horizon. His thoughts went back to Kylie. He saw everything happening his mind's eye, but worse of all, he could still see her smile, hear her laugh.
"Hey."
His head whipped around to see a familiar person seating himself beside him. He turned his attention back to the horizon. "What do you want?"
"That any way to treat a friend?" FBI asked. "Marine told me what happened."
"If you're here to give me some talk about losing my edge-"
"What am I? Some psychiatrist? I came to talk because I'm your friend." He kept quiet until CIA chose to speak.
He heaved a heavy sigh before speaking again. "What do you want me to say? It's because of my work that she's gone. It's my fault."
"You can't keep pinning this on yourself."
"But if I had planned better, if I had done a better job, I would have-"
"Look." He pulled CIA to look at him. "Things go wrong. Things happen and you can't predict them and you can't prevent them, they happen."
"And good people die. That happens?" he said, his voice gaining volume.
"Yes," he said with equal force backing his voice. "Good people die and sometimes there's nothing we can do about it. I know that, you know that, everyone in that house at this moment knows that."
CIA stared him down before turning back to the horizon.
"We just keep moving on."
"Right," he mumbled.
"Hey." FBI let his hand fall on his friend's back. "How about a drink?"
CIA smirked. "Sounds good."
