It took perhaps two months, but at long last Charles realized his newfound dream. He opened a school in his mansion. A boarding school.

It took the time it did, because of the caution and nature of of the matter and student body. It was a private boarding school, and while Charles had money to spare, his bank account was not endless. So a tuition fee had been placed, and Seraphina had concocted deals with the government to open and support the school. They did not know it would be for mutants, and Charles didn't know the nature of the deals. Seraphina didn't tell him, mainly since people were reluctant at first and she had used...less than desirable methods. Ah, telepathy.

Then was the hiring of staff and the appropriate wages. This was tricky, as both Seraphina and Charles wanted to be present for interviews. While one of them asked questions, the other combed through their history for interactions with mutants. Depending on good, bad, or neutral, they told the interviewee of the nature of things. Then they were hired, or wiped clean of the discussion and sent on their way. It was a tiring process.

They had done it though, and the school was christened Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. A bit of an old-fashioned name if you asked her, but it wasn't her house.

They used to newly installed home-version of Cerebro(thanks to Hank) to locate students. The children were more than grateful, even if some were quiet.

Charles found little Theodore Mottley, age seven, in a back alley of New York City. His parents had recently cast him out because of his newfound tail. In a few short weeks his skin had turned grey. Charles told Theo that his powers had developed earlier than most, and it cheered the little tyke up a bit to know he was special.

Along with Theo, Charles had found Ellie, Steve, Lily, James, Katy, and Matthew. They ranges from age ten to fifteen, and welcomed the chance at a proper education. Though, Lily Matthew and Ellie had families who agreed to sending their children to the school. They had tuition payers then. The others had agreed to work small jobs around the house. Charles had a big heart, and Seraphina couldn't tell him if they kept taking in orphans they would be bankrupt.

With each week came one or two more children. Now they had a reasonable group of paying families who accepted their children's gifts.

Seraphina found herself smiling all the time.

She and Darwin were teachers themselves. Seraphina taught English and Darwin taught basic science after taking a few classes himself. Sean and Alex were in school to get their own teaching degrees, but in their spare time they were in charge of the gym class.

She couldn't be happier with their little family. There had been bumps in the road, but those had went away.

In the first few weeks after Charles' surgery, he had insisted on doing things himself. While he easily moved the wheelchair through the ground floor hallways and avoided small tables and vases, he had difficulty getting into bed and working around the bathroom and necessities like that. Hank had gone around the most used areas and worked on them. Now, Charles had a shower chair and a larger bathroom to accommodate the wheelchair. He slept in one of the ground floor bedrooms to avoid the stairs. An elevator was installed. Hank did a marvelous job on that one, because it resembled to wood panelling throughout the house.

Hank also worked on the bunker. Now it was chrome-tastic lower floor unbeknownst to the general staff and pupils. It held a battle simulation room, an infirmary, and Cerebro. Hank's lab lived down there, and he was in the works of a hangar.

After one particular accident that involved Charles taking a fall off his bed, he consented to Seraphina and the others aiding him. It was mostly her, but when she was teaching Hank was there, or one of the boys. Seraphina knew they were older than the phrase, but they were younger than her and more innocent.

As for her and Charles, they were in love to put it simply.

On break, she could hear Charles teaching and it warmed her heart. The children loved him, and he loved them.

"The children adore you, you know," She said to him one evening in their shared room. She could sense all the children had fallen asleep, as their minds were quiet or occupied with dreams.

"Just as they love you," was his reply. They'd kiss goodnight and fall asleep on their sides of the bed.

For the first time in her life, besides Erik in her early years, she was happy. Content.

Life just didn't let that last.

Seraphina gasped as the staff plus Alex and Sean gathered around the television in the main lounge. Charles held her hand while the other covered her mouth.

That day, November twenty-second, 1963, was the day their beloved President Kennedy was assassinated. The whole country was in shock. The news had said it was three hours prior that the deed had been done, and experts were saying the bullet had curved. She knew what that meant, and her thoughts were confirmed when the press announced that a certain Erik Lehnsherr had been taking in for questioning.

Magneto had killed JFK.

Seraphina was furious, and depressed at the same time, and it worried Charles.

"Scheiß Hurensoh-"Seraphina said.

The staff and her friends looked at her strangely. She didn't realize she had spoken in her native tongue, and continued. Alex could tell by the tone it wasn't very pretty, or nice.

"Schon allein, dass er den Nerv hat. Er und seine scheiß Telepathin.Er und seine kleine Bruderschaft von Mutaten. Er wollte es so. Vielleicht wird er daraus lernen. Vielleicht realisiert er, dass wir die Richtigen waren all die Jahre lang. Jetzt wird er im Gefängnis verrotten, da bin ich mir sicher." Seraphina was shouting and pointing at the television set by the end of her rant. Some of the older kids had crept near the doorway and heard her. Rambling on like that frightened a good few; they had never seen their favorite teacher so mad. Matthew, the oldest of all, frowned at the news. He immediately disliked anyone who made Ms. Fischer mad enough to have tears fall from her eyes.

Charles noticed as well and telepathically told them to return to their rooms: he'd explain the events later. Then he took Seraphina's hand and led her away from the tv, from Erik's ghost, from the troubles of that day. He took her to their room where she cried silently into his chest.

She'd never forgiven herself for letting Erik go that day in Cuba. She thought of ways she could have prevented it. She thought of the Being for the first time in a year.

She had horrible nightmares of machines wreaking havoc on a snowy landscape that night, where a few individuals tried to fend them off.

Scheiß Hurensoh- No good son of a--

- Only he would have the nerve! He and that no good telepath. He and his little Brotherhood of Mutants! He deserves it! Maybe he'll learn a lesson! Maybe he'll realize we were the right path all those years ago! Now he'll rot in prison, I'm sure!

Another filler!

For those that are confused, I'm gonna say FC took place in September, 1962 and this last event in November of 1963. So, a year.
