"You!" The word resonated through the halls like thunder in the sky during the worst storm, forcing me to emit a small yelp.

Startled, I turned around to see who the outburst came from, and at the far end of the corridor, I made eye contact with flaming red eyes filled with hatred. They remained locked on to me as they got closer and closer and like I was trapped in their gaze, I didn't move nor break eye contact.

"You are the reason my brother was captured by that deranged ex-boyfriend of yours." Henrietta jabbed me in the shoulder with her index finger on each syllable, causing me to stagger back each time.

"I-I don't even know the details of what's happened-"

"You wouldn't because you were all tucked away safely in your world, weren't you?" She stood towering over me slightly, her fangs beginning to appear sharper and sharper by the second.

It was clear that she was furious with me, but it wasn't my fault. Any words I'd say would just add fuel to the fire, staying silent wasn't much of an option either.

A flash of darkness and a slow stinging sensation burned it's way on to my left cheek. I put my hand on the area and glanced up at Henrietta in horror. She hit me. Why?

"You're not queen yet, your status is lower than mine; you're nothing. So you better answer me when I ask you a question," she demanded.

"What do you want me to say?" I questioned slowly, weary over making the pain any worse.

"Admit that this is all your fault." She continued to stare me down furiously.

"Even if it was, what good would that do?"

Again, another flash of blackness and a new pain grew on my right cheek. Again. I'd been hit. My hands raised to my face in defence, although, too late.

"You bitch! How dare you." She snarled and pushed me back.

"It's not my fault! Don't put this on me," I retorted, raising my voice slightly.

"Oh, I thought I heard slapping." A male voice said, almost breathing down my neck.

I slunk away from it, a shiver running down my spine, and stepped to the side to see who it was.

Jayden. Of course.

He glanced at me momentarily before turning his attention to Henrietta, "Father wants to talk to you."

"Just you wait." Henrietta threatened before disappearing somewhere.

I let out a shaky breath and pressed on to my cheeks to try and subdue the pain. It worked a little, but not a lot. And here I thought we were kind of getting along after she helped me pick an outfit once. I guess I was wrong.

Jayden stuffed his hands in his pockets, "follow me, punching bag."

"That's not funny, it hurts," I muttered, now very annoyed with him as I followed him down the hallway. I felt if the pain was any worse I'd probably have teary eyes; I was glad she distributed her slaps evenly.

He stopped and turned to face me, an aloof expression on his face, "really?" He didn't sound interested in the slightest.

That was until he removed my hands from my cheeks and placed a thumb on my chin to angle my head and take a closer inspection. I could feel his cold breath on each cheek as they were exposed to him. I stared up at him for a brief few seconds and I noticed his eyes did the same thing as Alex's where they were rimmed with an alternate colour, in his case, his blue eyes were rimmed with a soft teal. It wasn't until he blinked that I realised he was no longer observing my cheeks, but my eyes.
