Captured To Become A Vampire Prince's Bride {Book 2}: Chapter 45 [FINAL]

The morning after we landed was the day of the crowning ceremony. I and Alexander would be ruling Nox Aterrima in the place of the King and Queen while they went overseas to deal with Drecott, and if all went to plan, we'd keep that title.

Alexander and I found ourselves stood outside of huge double doors with intricate golden designs on it, belonging to the throne room, which had hardly been used since I arrived. It was just us, and whatever nerves we were carrying. We weren't entirely sure what was waiting for us behind the doors aside from our respective thrones, but we did know we were ready.

Alexander gave me a preemptive squeeze of the hand just before the doors opened, and from the entrance, leading up to the thrones were rows of people, cameras, and a handful of relatives who all bowed as we entered. The thrones were an elegant gold and purple which sat comfortably under a golden canopy, raised off the ground by carpeted steps. Both the walls and ceilings were decorated heavily, in a way that made the room feel larger than it probably was. To the back of the room, stood the King and Queen not far from the thrones.

Alexander stood in front of the right throne, and I stood in front of the left, keeping my eyes trained towards the door as I'd been told to do multiple times since I landed. My heart was pounding in my chest as all eyes and cameras were focused intently on us, not to mention the millions of people that would be watching at home and wherever else.

The whole crowning ceremony was silent right up until we left the room as the new rulers of Nox Aterrima, which was a good thing because I didn't even want to imagine how bad my voice would be quaking if I had to say a single word.

I kept my breathing steady and my body still until Queen Genevieve appeared in front of me, and the King in front of Alexander at arm's length. Her expression wasn't easily decipherable, I knew exactly what she was thinking, however. I knew how much she didn't like me or humans, so this must've been a real challenge for her to actually be a decent person to me.

In sync, the pair removed their crowns and placed them on our heads. It had considerably more weight than any tiara I'd worn. It felt like a perfect foreshadowing of mine and Alex's future ruling Nox Aterrima as King and Queen.

After bowing to one another, Alexander and I lead the crowd outside of the room, and as soon as we had passed the threshold, applauds and cheers filled the halls of the castle. I was pulled in to a hug by the King who looked seconds away from crying.

"I'm so proud of you two and all you've had to persevere. I'm honoured to pass on my title to you and I know you'll do nothing less than be great. You might even do a better job than me!" he exclaimed, evoking some laughter from the gatherers.

It took a while to finish receiving congratulations from people who had attended the ceremony and others who couldn't make it, like Henrietta and Emmanuel.

Following that, we went out into the streets to see and join in on the celebrations, and that very same evening we bid the King and Queen Genevieve goodbye as they set off for Drecott. We didn't know exactly when we would next see each other, but we all had our respective jobs to do as rulers.

In a matter of time, the castle's population had gone down by three, leaving just me, Alexander, Leandra, Charlotte, Jayden and Leyton to be its main residents... along with the chefs, maids, assistants and the like, of course.

In the evening, we had dinner together. It was strange not having the King there, more of a relief for Genevieve to not be there though. After that, it was time for bed.

Settling down ready to sleep after such a big day, I turned to face Alexander who was already facing my direction. I knew he was still awake because the glow from his eyes was providing a dim light source on my side of the room. 

"Nox is ours now, it's insane right?" I breathed out, getting comfy for a little late-night discourse.

He nodded slowly, his mouth down turning slightly, "it damn sure is. Never thought I'd be King at such a young age. King Alexander and Queen Arianne, though. Has a very nice ring to it. So would a little Prince Alexander II, or Princess Arianne II. Or both." I felt him shrug as he closed his eyes getting lost in thought.

I agreed, "well-"

He jolted as his eyes widened, "n-not yet of course. I mean, well- I can still just about look after myself!"

If I could see him properly, I would definitely say he was blushing at that very moment. I chuckled, "you're right about the last part, definitely. But kids... I like the sound of it."

"Good, now turn around so I can cuddle you. We have a long day tomorrow," he kissed my forehead before I turned on to my other side and he edged closer to me. His body warm for a change.

"Definitely little Prince Alexanders though," I whispered.

I heard him snort and whisper a 'you wish'.

I smiled as I closed my eyes. It was the night before the first day of our forever. King Alexander and Queen Arianne of Nox Aterrima. It was a journey to get to that point, and there was an even longer one waiting. But I knew with Alexander at my side, and I at his, it would be nothing we couldn't handle together.

I wanna say thank you to everyone for your comments and votes on my work. I do see all the comments you guys leave, and sometimes I don't reply because I'm busy or because I feel weird about saying the same thing over and over. I'll be honest, there's been a lot of times I wanted to stop writing this, or I lacked any motivation to write, but then I see the things you guys write and I find some motivation. Even through the crappy chapters, you stuck through, and I can't appreciate that enough. So, not to be corny lmao, but thank you and I love y'all.

This is the last chapter, and there (probably) won't be a book 3 continuing from this point. However, there will be other stories to come.
