Chapter 6

Rachael, Brendon, Patrick, and all of the bystander vampires and witches turned their heads in the same direction. Standing in the center of the street - Jack standing not too far behind - was Kenya. Her fists were clenched by her sides and a fire glowed in her eyes, anger boiling inside of her.

"Kenya," The witch murmured under her breath in pure disbelief.

"I don't know what you think you're doing," The lycan growled, approaching the group across from her with great speed. "Coming into my town and trying to kill my people. And for what? Territory?" She reached her hand out and wrapped it tightly around the neck of the vampire who was still kneeling on the ground, lifting him up into the air. "Listen to me, you asshole, I will end you before you hurt anyone else."

"Kenya, put him down!" Rachael screamed.

The werewolf snapped her head in the witch's direction, her red eyes narrowing. "Who do you think you are and what makes you think I'll listen to you?"

"I'm your friend and that's my boyfriend," She responded without a hint of fear in her voice, "And I thought we agreed you wouldn't hurt him unless he hurt me."

"Well, he did," Brendon chimed in, receiving a glare from the woman he'd been pursuing nearly his entire life. He put his hands up in innocence. "Hey, it's true."

The vampire's nails dug into the Lycan's hand, trying to pry her fingers from around his neck and remove the restriction from his airway. But his efforts only worsened the situation, causing the she wolf to tighten her grip.

"I don't make deals like that with people like you," Kenya growled. Evey about her best friend had been wiped away, so every promise she made to Rachael was erased from her mind. "Furthermore he tried to harm my people, so he deserves whatever is coming to him, even if it is death."

"Kill him and I'll kill you," The witch threatened. Kenya scoffed at her. "So I'm only going to say this once more. Put. Him. Down," The Supreme's daughter commanded, her eyes turning black again as she extended her hand out threateningly.

"Why should I?" Kenya inquired indignantly, returning her attention to the vampire in her grasps, "This ratbastard deserves to die...sending two of his henchmen to kill me." She shook her head in disappointment and let out a sarcastic chuckle. "There's a reason why vampires don't rule here, pretty boy." She bent her arm and brought her victim closer to her, so they were looking into each other's eyes. The vampire hissed and Kenya smirked while crushing his windpipe further.

"I'm giving you one more chance, Kenya." Rachael clenched her jaw, "Let him go." The werewolf remained silent, the vampire still in her hand. "NOW!" The witch shouted.

"Make me." Kenya tested.

Wordlessly accepting her challenge, the witch pushed her hand further out and sent the Lycan flying through the air, while the vampire was tossed further down the street. The vampire tumbled on the pavement, while the woman nobody expected to wake up crashed into the exterior of one of the shops along the streetsides, her body breaking the store window and shattering the glass.

Rachael's chest rose up and down, her breaths heavy and uneven.

A blanket of silence fell over the street, every individual anticipating what was to happen next. Kenya, her body aching from the impact, slowly began to pick herself up, shards of glass sliding off of her body as she rose to her feet. She cocked her head back and let out a long, loud howl that reached the outskirts of the Quarter, before tilting her head down and locking eyes with the witch who'd attacked her. A smirk appeared on the witch's face.

The she wolf gritted her teeth against one another before screamed at the top of her lungs and charging forward, straight for Rachael. But just as she reached forward, her claw extended out, ready to grab the witch and drive her back into the building behind her, she vanished into the thin air. Kenya skid to a stop and shot her head back, looking at the two men who stood alone.
