"This first spell is one that brings a damned soul into a host body and binds it there," The werewolf went on to explain, "Those vampires that were following you are demons. The men you once knew are gone, replaced with escaped spirits. This next enchantment, though, is what concerns me the most." She met the blue-haired girl's gaze and turned the book for her to read it. "You were going to bring a legion of demons here?"
"What?" The hybrid asked as she snatched the book. "This is a spell to trap paranormals in the city. Not to bring a legion of demons out of hell."
Kenya shook her head as pointed to the extra symbols. "You've never read the old language of the pagans, then. The spell releases a legion of old spirits out from the underworld and allows them to live among us. But the demons can't leave New Orleans unless they have a binding spell to a powerful creature." Halsey looked up at the tired wolf. "My guess is that the demon wanted to set up shop here for his dead and damned buddies from Hell. He was probably planning on binding himself to Patrick, then bringing his legion to New Orleans where-"
"There are more than a thousand paranormals waiting to be possessed," Halsey finished for her while leaning back, "Holy shit. What have I done?" The girl ran a hand through her hair. Kenya grabbed the book and began to search for answers, only to realize that she wouldn't find any, at least, not there.
"We have to go," She stated, while rising to her feet and packing up.
"We?" Halsey asked.
"You're not safe here, kid, and we need help," Kenya announced as she went around her room and cleaned up her shoes, stuffing shirts back into a grey duffle bag.
"We should take this to the group."
"Halsey, they're divided and they couldn't get rid of this thing in the first place." The she wolf escaped to the bathroom and cleared the counter of her belongings. "I know someone who will help us."
"You keep saying 'us' and 'we'. Why would I want to help you with this?" She questioned snarkily, crossing her arms over her chest, "I'm fine on my own. I don't know if you know this or not, but I've been doing it for a while now."
"Look, you can go back out there. You're free to leave, but you and I know that - sooner or later - those guys are going to kill you and take that book. I want to protect you as best as I can, and I need you on this because you've been with the demon the longest." Kenya grabbed a fresh shirt and switched out the old one she had on for a new one, snatching her leather jacket next and slipping it on. The lycan twin found her keys in her pocket and started looking for her boots. "So you can go out there and risk your life, or you can come with me," Kenya proposed while strapping on the two black boots, "It's up to you, kid, but once I'm gone, I'm not coming back." The wolf stood and grabbed her bag, going for the door.
Halsey didn't second guess or sass Kenya this time and followed behind her.
The she wolf took out her phone and started typing away while approaching her car. She was sending her mate a simple message telling him that she would be gone for the next few weeks, explaining that she was doing what was necessary to protect New Orleans and her pack, and that she'd be back as soon as possible. After sending it, Kenya heard two sets of footsteps approaching her car. Halsey was sitting on the roof while Kenya opened her trunk and threw her bag inside.
"Get in the car, kid, and lock it," was all the wolf said, and the hybrid did just that.
Kenya reached down and pretended like she didn't notice the two possessed demons quickly approaching, but instead reached down and pulled out the gun hidden in her trunk, along with the salt bullets hidden in a box next to the weapon. She loaded her Winchester 1300 Defender in just enough time to see one man standing beside her out of the corner of her eye. She pumped the gun and shot a bullet through his core. Halsey inside dropped down as she heard the shots ring out, but then her door was yanked open - she forgot to lock it.
The first devil spawn sputtered profusely as he tried to get up, but Kenya pumped another shot and hit him in the center of his head, killing him instantly. A scream rang through the air as the second man tried taking Halsey.
Kenya growled as she called out, "Hey ugly!"
The man stopped and glanced over at the she wolf, giving her the chance to shoot the second attacker in the head just like the first. Halsey squealed as the man dropped to the ground, and clutched the book closer to her chest and frantically entered the car.
Kenya rolled her eyes and ripped open the driver's side door, tossing the gun to the hybrid who caught it in her hands after dropping the book to her lap. The girl stared at it widely while the werewolf slipped into the driver's seat and closed the door behind her.
"I guess you've never been one to follow directions," Kenya commented as she started the car up, "Makes sense, seeing as who your parents are." She was still bitter from her encounter with Rachael the night before.
Halsey's eyes narrowed, but she refrained from saying anything. The she wolf put the car in drive and sped forward, her trunk closing as the car raced down the street and away from the motel she'd been staying at.
