The two paranormals slowly made their way to the group forming around Halsey. Rachael was first to lock eyes with Kenya as the she wolf made sure to distribute the weight between her and Patrick evenly. The lycan twin glared and then looked away as she passed off the man to the other remaining vampire. "If you want to bring him to the hospital, I'll ask the pack doctor to treat him, just so there are no questions asked," She stated.
"Treat him? What happened?" Pete questioned, looking down at his friend who had a newfound genuineness to his eyes.
"Your daughter tried to kill him." Kenya explained while walking away, not really wanting to stand out in the open anymore. She pulled out her phone and began dialing the number to her doctor to inform him that they would be coming and describe Patrick's condition while approaching her car.
"I didn't try to kill him, I just...I did what needed to be done to get the demon out of him," The hybrid tried to justify herself.
"Oh my god, Halsey," Rachael muttered in disbelief, walking over to the pair of vampires and checking over Patrick for herself. "I get that you hate us, but for fuck's sake! Trying to kill him?"
"A simple exorcism would have done the trick," Pete stated while holding on to his best friend's back. He noticed the separation in his spinal cord and a disgusted expression appeared on his face.
"He's still breathing." Halsey shrugged while scratching behind her head. "So I don't see what the big deal is..."
"I'm fine, guys," Patrick said while squinting at the agony of moving, "If it wasn't for Halsey, that thing inside me would have actually gone through with whatever it was planning."
"Yeah, so in the grand scheme of things, you should be thanking me," The hybrid chimed in haughtily.
"You're lucky he's still alive. He should be dead," Brendon scolded the girl.
"Brendon!" Rachael snapped, glaring over at him.
"What? She forcefully removed a demon out of him while he was hurt. Technically, he should be dead, but he kinda already is."
"Oh, 'cause I'm a vampire. Wow, Brendon, you're so funny," Patrick snarled in return, "You know, seeing as you've been around for so long, I thought you would've had a better joke."
"You don't deserve my good jokes," The wizard replied somewhat childishly.
"Would the two of you just stop it already!?" Rachael asked, annoyed.
The group made it over to the set of cars that were left in the middle of the road leading to the woods. Brendon, Rachael, Pete, and Patrick rode together behind Kenya and Halsey to the hospital. Both cars shared a silence that was filled with tension.
Kenya gripped on to the steering wheel tightly while following the road, deep in thought. How did one vampire know so much about her, yet she knew nothing about him? And that witch, she kept showing up everywhere - in every conversation, every topic, and every fight. Why? The lycan found it hard to believe that she had a best friend, let alone a witch as a best friend. Was she going crazy? Was this a side effect of being dead?
"You know, I can hear you thinking over here. And I'd appreciate it if you just kept your mind on the road. I don't want you getting us killed," Halsey grumbled while crossing her arms and smirking.
"You could always get out," Kenya spat, giving a sarcastic smile to the young vampire and witch crossbreed.
"Yeah, but then I'd have to walk, and I don't feel like walking." Kenya rolled her eyes and tried to focus on the road but found it hard to concentrate on the task at hand. "By the way, you're not going crazy," Halsey reassured her.
