She leant her head against the cool glass of the rain-speckled window, watching the world beyond the thin crystal slip away from view.

Jane hadn't meant for Sam to be left alone with Castiel but she knew- deep within her heart- she couldn't let Dean drive all the way back to the bunker, alone and without anyone to help him find the lore they needed.

While Dean had been packing the trunk of the Impala with previsions, Sam had given Jane a few minutes alone with Castiel, so that they could say their goodbyes in private. The female had promised the ex-angel that, she would be home before he even noticed her absence. He had begged her not to leave him. Being apart from someone whom so clearly needed her was more than a little heartbreaking.

Yet here she was, on the road with Dean, driving down a dusty highway in the middle of nowhere.

Neither passengers with the car had said a single word since leaving the motel. Both had so much playing on their minds. One was worried for the wellbeing of their lover, the other for the safety of their younger sibling.

It was going to be an extremely long three day drive.
