I Hope I Won't Turn Bitter

If anything I hope the world doesn't turn me bitter,
Left to forget the simple joys of a day.
I hope as I grow old and my hair turns gray,
I don't forget to smile anyway.
I've seen what trauma has done to some.
It leaves them with a look.
Oh, what they've seen,
I hope will never again come to be,
Because its something no one deserves to go through.
I hope struggle doesn't make me bitter,
And bring me down to my knees,
Having to beg selfish people for food to eat.
I hope time doesn't make me bitter,
Slowly causing me to lose hope,
Leaving me to believe there's not a chance at all.
I hope people won't make me bitter,
Make me think we're all bad.
Cause I don't want to be the one,
Prepared to be hated every time I meet a lad.
I hope history won't make me bitter,
Just the fact that everything has changed,
That's it's no longer what it was like in my good ole days.
I hope I'll be happy,
That I'll be like I am now.
But I know,
There's gonna be some curveballs,
I'm gonna fall.
But I know I'll always get back up,
For I can't stay on the ground.
It's gonna be hard,
But it's all a part of,
This crazy thing called life.
