New Beginnings

Almost baby time?

Maya had just turned 38 weeks pregnant. It was safe for the baby to come at any time now, she was thankful that she didn't have baby berry early. This whole pregnancy was just crazy, with everything that had happened. But her and Lucas are on way better terms than they were a few weeks ago, he's back to being super overprotective of Maya since he doesn't want her to be alone if she goes into labor.

"I feel like a whale." Maya whined as she looked in a mirror. The only place that was huge was her stomach, but she's always been small so this was so weird for her. Lucas came up behind her and put his hands on her stomach. "But you're not a whale babe, besides baby berry will be here soon and you'll be back to normal again before you know it." He leaned down kissing her cheek. Maya smiled a little but lifted up her shirt, "But now I have stretch marks, I never really knew how much my body would change with being pregnant." She started to look down and pout but Lucas on her cheeks making her look up at him and kissed her lips lightly. "But you're still gorgeous and you'll look great after the baby is born." Maya smiled kissing Lucas again. "Okay we need to try some walking like lots of walking since I'm finally off bedrest and I want the baby here." Lucas laughed and nodded. "Whatever you want, let's go." He held out his hand for her and they walked out the door together grabbing a jacket on the way out. They walked around their neighborhood for as long as Maya could before she got tired. They headed back for the night, and just laid on the couch watching movies.

The next morning she was slightly starting to cramp but it wasn't anything major, just her body preparing for the baby. Maya got up and got ready bright and early so she could walk some more today. "Babe, hurry up! We need to go walk around some more." Lucas groaned as he slowly got out of bed and got ready quickly before Maya had a fit. "Okay okay, I'm ready. Let's go babe." He held out his hand for her and they walked out the door and started to walk around their neighborhood again and to a park close by. "I can't believe we're going to have a baby soon." Maya said and looked over at Lucas as they walked. "I know but I'm scared but excited. I mean I've always wanted to be a dad, maybe not at 22 but I'm not mad about it. At least we wont be old trying to have fun with our kids." They both laughed a little. "I never thought I would have children, this is honestly the most terrifying thing ever but at the same time the most exciting." Just as Maya finished saying that she got an sharp pain in her lower stomach, it only lasted for about 20 seconds. But it just means it was her first contraction. Lucas looked at Maya worried as she stopped and bit her lip. "Maya are ypu okay?" She nodded a little and slowly started to walk again. "I think I just had a contraction.." She said softly looking at him, continuing to walk. "What should we go to the hospital? Call an ambulance? Do you need me to carry you?" Lucas was starting to panic. Maya laughed and shook her head. "Huckleberry relax. They aren't even consistent. We can continue to walk back the house and wait til they're closer together unless my water breaks." Lucas let out a deep breath and relaxed. "Oh thank god, I did not want my baby to be born in a park." Maya just laughed. "It'll be just fine." She said as they walked back home.
