"Shall we descend?"

The man asked, grinning.

As I gave a slight nod, a couple of white
butterflies battled their wings past our heads.
Below, the strange black cat I have previously encountered
in the cold desert was struggling to keep his head above
the waves of white, screeching and scratching the
butterflies trying to drown him.

"Aw, this won't do. Stubborn cat. Tch."

In the blink of an eye, we were down,
on the ground, a few feet away from the
creature with amber eyes.

"What on Earth are you doing here?!"
The voice froze me on the spot.
"Run you stupid girl. Run!"

"Pfft-" The man next to me
snickered. "Don't you have more important matters

to attend to,"

A pause followed during which all the lovely
butterflies I saw before turned into large ugly moths.

"old friend?"

The cat left out a grunt
as it dashed forward—
towards our direction.

"Pfft-ahahahahaha"

Frozen in place, I continued to stare
quizzically at the scene unfolding right before
my eyes.

Unable to believe the cruelty
of the man who seemed so weak before,
unable to understand the blood shed
he planned,

I pondered
on the role

                                                                                                 I played.
