The world is a dark place, filled with violence and bloodshed and fear. Those who are born in the shadows are taught to stay there, to hide, to protect themselves, for they've not been dealt a kind hand. This is the life of half-breeds, creatures that are half and half of each, not human enough and entirely too much of a monster in the eyes of Wizards. This is the world for half-breeds. The threat of death hangs around their necks every day, a noose tied by the hands of men.

Survival is the ultimate fight for all kinds of Magical Creatures. Unfortunately for Harpies, they're starting to lose the fight. Creatures vicious and powerful, whose numbers started to dwindle as the Wizarding Wars raged on. After the Global Wizarding War came to an end with the death of its leader, Gellert Grindelwald, by the classification of the Ministry of Magic (M.O.M.) Harpies became officially hunted half-breeds. For they chose the wrong side to fight on.

Albus Dumbledore, a wizard with a deadly, impossible mission, takes it upon himself to include Harpies in the second Wizarding War  to take on He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named once more, but in order to do that, he has to track down one Harpy who he thinks may be the key.

She may have what it takes to help them conquer their way to victory.

•Book One•

How can you say you know me,
When you've only seen my skin,
And not the untamed world I hide,
That's growing deep within,
You haven't heard my ribs all creak,
Behind each plaited vine,
Or swam beneath the waterfall,
That cascades down my spine,
You've not been here for long enough,
To watch a new life start,
Or find the run-down castle,
Lying just inside my heart,
You haven't climbed the branches,
That are wrapped around each lung,
Swaying with the breezes,
That come dancing past my tongue,
Don't mark me with your footprints,
If you plan to leave too soon,
And only want to know me,
When my plants are all in bloom,
Because the birdsong might be pretty,
But it's not for you they sing,
And if you think my winter is too cold,
You don't deserve my spring.

"I am what you designed me to be. I am your blade. You cannot now complain if you also feel the hurt."

How can I teach her some way of being human that won't destroy her?

***

She knew she could never be a saint,
But she thought she could be a martyr,
If they killed her quick.

~ Flannery O'Conner

***

Cowards die many times before their death;
The valiant never taste of death but once.
Of all the wonders that I yet have heard,
It seems to me most strange that men should fear;
Seeing that death, a necessary end,
Will come when it will come.

***

"The fallen angel becomes a malignant devil. Yet even that enemy of God and man had friends and associates in his desolation; I am alone."

***

From childhood's hour I have not been
As others were—I have not seen
As others saw—I could not bring
My passions from a common spring—
From the same source I have not taken
My sorrow—I could not awaken
My heart to joy at the same tone—
And all I lov'd—I lov'd alone—
Then—in my childhood—in the dawn
Of a most stormy life—was drawn
From ev'ry depth of good and ill
The mystery which binds me still—
From the torrent, or the fountain—
From the red cliff of the mountain—
From the sun that 'round me roll'd
In its autumn tint of gold—
From the lightning in the sky
As it pass'd me flying by—
From the thunder, and the storm—
And the cloud that took the form
(When the rest of Heaven was blue)
Of a demon in my view—
