Ch. 8

"What are we supposed to do now?"
This is certainly getting irritating.

"Well. We are at a park and on a date. What would you like to do?"

My mind flashes briefly back to my dream. The cool air, twinkling stars, warm embrace, soft lips...

'dont beat yourself up for liking him'

I do not like Beast Boy.

My shirt is a light pink tye-dyed with red.
I guess I am upset and embarrassed.

"Why are you embarrassed mama?"
He placed his head on my shoulder and turned it to see the side of my face.

I glared forward ignoring him.
No reason.

My embarrassment won after his comment though and my shirt settled on pale fricking pink.

"At least it matches your cheeks.."
With that comment he started walking to the play place.

The sun was setting so there weren't any children out. Still. Why is he going to the play place.

Suddenly a flash of terror flipped through me, he was heading to the slides.

Slides, stars, warmth, lips-

Nonononono!

'oh you know you want him love'

Beast Boy  POV

Behind me was a flash of light and I swung around to see an embarrassed Raven.

"Lets go to the swings?"

Her statement sound more like a question. Like even she didn't know what she wanted to do.

"Sure" I say with a grin
"I'm yours for tonight, I'm up for whatever you'd like Rae."

Her face flames crimson after this comment.

I love this. I mean Raven has always been gorgeous and kind. But ever since she has been forced to open up it has been more and more confidence-boosting to flirt with her. She likes me at least a little on some level.

She is way out of my league.
Which makes harmless flirting even more amazing.

I wonder what else I can poke fun at her about.

Raven's POV

At least on the swings there will be space between us.

Hopefully lots of space.

Beastie is ahead of me and chooses to sit on a double person swing.

So much for space. Hell we may be closer than if we just sat by the slides.

Oh shut it.
I swear when I get home-

"Is everything okay Rae? You ran into me!" He starts laughing.

And suddenly I join in.
I mean I started thinking about how I have a little parasite and it likes Beast Boy and just haha.

My cloak turns a joyful pink and I don't try to change it.

"Come sit by me" he whines.

When did he get so whiny haha.

"Ugh stop with the puppy dog, I'm coming I'm coming."

When I sat beside him I realized the sun was starting to set.

It was just splaying orange and pink across the sky.

"Raven.." he seemed shy.
I turned and asked "Yes?"

He was hesitant to respond.

I hope it isn't anything romantic..

Sure you DON'T want him to be romantic..liar

"Do you know what happened to the scarecrow?"

"hm?"

"He got an award because he was  OUT-standing in his field...get it"

I thought he was going to confess something. And he told a joke.

I burst out laughing.

"Oh I have another one-"

For hours we sat together swinging on a two person swing telling cheesy jokes and puns to one another.

I have never laughed so much in one night.

Taking my eyes off of him for the first time in a while I notice the sky is black and speckled with diamonds.
I guess we miss the end of the sunset.

"Woah it is late" he said also noticing the dark sky.

"Hey before we leave Ill race you to the slide. Ready set go!"

Before I could object he set off running.

Ugh. What damage could one race do for our night?

I climbed up the ladder to reach the top of the slide.
Where did Beast Boy go?

This slide has a great view of the sky.
It's so vast and gorgeous end-user
"Ooh"
"Watch out Rae"

Great I bumped into him.

"Hey come here Raven."
He comes closer.
His face inches from mine.
My eyes are locked on his lips and I don't know why.
He tilts my head up and my glance is encaptured in his forest eyes.
He leaned his face in.
And for some reason I brance myself for a kiss.
But his head slides by mine and I feel the warmth of his breath on my ear.
"Look at the sky, right there is the constellation Leo."

"Woah it is so pretty"

"yeah."

With that he slid down and raced to the motorcycle.

I stayed back abit. I thought..

Don't worry

Oh shut up.

I have a weird feeling in my stomach.
Like every fluttering insect plummetted.

I guess I was wrong.
One race can ruin a night.
