Y/N seemed to lose her breath. Her mind spiralled and her heart began to race even faster than before. She wasn't safe- she wasn't safe- she wasn't-

"Shh," Jack cooed, "I've got you snowflake."

Jack held her tight, whispering comforting things in her ear. If Y/N hadn't been panicking so much, she would have noted that this wasn't usual friend behaviour, and not to mention, she'd scold herself for liking it so much.

Y/N could feel her throat tighten and her eyes water, and she hid her face in the crook of Jack's neck. She could feel Jack moving, his arm lifting up, and..

Whoosh.

Y/N Held on for dear life to Jack before peeking out to see what had happened. The figure was gone. He was gone. Jack got rid of him. Y/N let out a sigh of relief as tears ran down her face, freezing when they dropped onto Jack's sweater. She heard the guardians fighting with Pitch, a crack, a hit, until it went silent.

Jack dropped his staff and held Y/N close, and he stayed there until the tears ceased.

Back at the pole, North had found a blanket big enough to completely wrap around Y/N. She had let her wings dissolve as she usually did when she needed to blend into a crowd, or just for comfort. She loved her wings very much, but when she needed the weight off her back, the feathers would drop until they were no more, and come back when needed.

The blanket was warm, and cozy, and safe. Jack sat next to her, her cold hands running through her hair in a soothing motion. She was surprised with how kind the guardians could be.

They all sat in a break room, comfortable velvet couches next to each other in front of a fireplace. The guardians sat there, in comfortable silence, letting Y/N recover from the experience. Bunny cleared his throat before speaking.

"I'd just like to tell you how we all think you're not a coward at all. You did well, Y/N." He said awkwardly.

Toothiana piped up. "It really broke our hearts to see you cry. We're sorry you had to be messed with like that."

The sandman nodded in agreement, shooting Y/N a sweet message through his symbols. She weakly smiled. "Thank you. I wish I could've been stronger."

Jack's hand stopped and he ruffled her hair instead. "You were strong enough, snowflake. Cut yourself some slack."

Y/N grinned a little more at Jack's affection, and nodded.

Without the two noticing, the rest of the guardians smiled warmly at their actions. North sent the others a look and awkwardly coughed.

"Well, I have work to do. Ask elf if you need something." North said, standing up, and smiling and patting Y/N on her head as if she were his daughter, before exiting the room.

Bunny and Toothiana shared a look before leaving the room, sandy shortly behind.

Finally, Jack and Y/N were alone. She was tucked neatly in Jack's arm, Jack's head rested on hers. The feeling was odd, really. So warm and so cold at the same time.

Jack turned and hesitated before asking her a question. "Y/N, if you don't mind me asking, who was that person?"

Y/N's eyes widened slightly, but she answered. "The first person and last person I loved before I died. I'd rather not go into the details, but he's the reason I died." She managed to choke out.

Jack's grip on her tightened slightly, as his other arm was wrapped around her waist. "I'm sorry." He said. "I guess that's why you don't  reply much to my flirting." He joked, trying to make light of the situation.

The corner of Y/N's mouth twitched. "I didn't at first." She began. "But I've started to. I don't really mind." She said, avoiding eye contact, blood rushing to her cheeks.

Jack chuckled. "Then, maybe you'd be willing to give this whole thing a try. A new start maybe?" He asked.

Y/N nodded. "I actually do want to."

"We'll go slow. Nothing you aren't uncomfortable with."

She smiled. "Alright."

Jack leaned over and kissed her on the forehead before hugging her tight.

"Then let's try."

Y/N never felt so right.
