When I get home early the next morning, all her stuff is gone.

Jesus, they really did it.

Where is she staying?

I take the back way through the woods to her house and knock on the door.

Marie opens it. "What do you want?"

"Where's Sang?"

She raises a brow. "You mean you don't know?"

I don't have time for this. "Have you seen her since yesterday?"

"Maybe."

I breathe through my nose, my nostrils flaring in annoyance. "Would you please tell me where she is?"

She waves a hand. "I'm not her keeper. She's staying at someone else's now. Gave me a new cell number to call. That's all I know."

"Could I have the number?"

"Why should I give it to you?"

I sigh, "Look Marie, I just want to talk to her, that's all. I promise you won't hear from me again."

She grins a bit. "Trouble in Academy Paradise?"

I just stare at her.

"Fine." She gets out her phone and relays the number.

"Thanks."

"Whatever." She slams the door.

I run home and immediately call on the new cell phone I bought this morning.

"Who is it?"

S***. It's Luke.

I hang up. I don't need to talk to her to know where she is.

She's staying at Luke's.

Dammit. I hoped she'd be at Kota's. Of course she isn't. Too close to me. At Luke's the pitbull North is nearby as well.

One of them I can handle. Not both.

I leave my house and head to the diner.

Maybe I can find out when North's next shift is.
