Beep. Beep. Beep.

I was awoken from my slumber by the annoying sound of my alarm clock blaring. It's the first day of school, I thought to myself. The thought instantly made me roll my eyes and sigh. I got out of bed in my baggy sweats and an oversized t-shirt. I walked over to the bathroom and looked in the mirror.

"How did I let myself go this bad?" I asked myself while looking at the girl who stood to stare back at me as a reflection. I was standing there fat, tired, covered in acne, staring at myself hating what I had let happen to me. I finally decide to take a shower and get ready so I wouldn't be late. I put on my favorite playlist and hopped in the shower letting the warm water soothe my aching body. When I was done, I ran past the mirror and into my closet to avoid catching a glimpse of the broken shell that was once a happy girl. I slipped on a pair of baggy Nike joggers and a simple t-shirt and then tied my hair up into a messy bun. I didn't bother with makeup because my skin was already so terrible.

"You got this. She can't still be holding a grudge against you after all these years. I mean it was an accident and she knew that." I nodded my head at my reflection and then went downstairs to join my mother and cursed brother for breakfast.

"Oh no, mom run a monster broke into the house!" My brother yelled and ran to hide behind my mom.

"Shut up Nathaniel." I flipped him off and walked over to the counter and grabbed a granola bar. I guessed this would have to do for breakfast.

"Your just mad because I'm hot and you look like a monster that crawled up from the sink." He said snatching the granola bar out of my hand and rolling his eyes at me with a disgusted face. He grabbed his keys and then walked out of the house.

"Have a good day sweetheart!" My mom yelled to me as I picked up my bag and keys to start heading out of the door.

"Wouldn't dream of it!" I said with sarcasm lining my voice. She was in the kitchen giggling over my brother and I's little "fight". If only she knew the truth behind his words.

I walked through the doors to the school as I have been for the past 5 years. It was the same thing every single day. I walked in and everyone stopped to stare at me and shoot me disgusted glares. They stared at me like I was some sort of freak just because I weigh more than the average slut here. When I got up to my locker I saw something that made the bile rise in my throat. Nathaniel had Alyssa shoved against my locker and was making out with her quite aggressively.

"Could you make out with your girlfriend somewhere else please your sorta blocking my locker." He scowled at me and turned back to Alyssa kissing her neck and jaw. I visibly cringed and she pushed him a little to make him stop.

"Shouldn't you be on a farm somewhere Ms. Piggy?" Alyssa said laughing at her insult before pulling Nathaniel in for another kiss. I felt like I was gonna barf.

"Shouldn't you be fucking a football player in the bathroom?" A look of horror flashed across my face when I realized what I said to Alyssa. I didn't mean to blurt it out like that but my mouth was running faster than my brain and then it just spilled out. The next thing I knew I felt a sharp pain in my jaw and then I let the blackness envelop me.

"What the hell happened?" I asked curiously. The room I was in smelled of alcohol and bleach. I looked around only to realize I was in a hospital room with an IV in and a bandage around my head.

"Oh thank god you're awake sweetheart. We didn't think you would make it." My mom cried out, pulling me into a bone-crushing hug.

"Mom I... Can't ... Breath" I said barely above a whisper. She mumbled a sorry and let me go. I took in a deep breath so I could ask my next question.

"Why am I in a hospital? What happened and why is there a bandage on my head?" I asked her and carefully touched the bandage. I immediately hissed in pain and retracted my hand away.

"Alyssa punched you in the jaw hard enough to knock you back and you hit your head on the floor." My mom started sobbing in my arms and I pulled her closer to me.

"Oh, is that why my head is spinning?" Still a little loopy I try and make her laugh to brighten the mood. She gives me a small smile and then pulls away.

"Yes, the Dr. said you should get some rest. You have a mild concussion from the impact but it shouldn't cause any permanent damage." She explained what the doctor said and I finally remembered what happened. I can't believe I said that to her. I'm surprised I'm even alive at this point.

"I have a concussion." My heart started racing. I was furious. The last time I had a concussion it caused severe brain damage and I was in the hospital for over two months, going through therapy and trying to get my head wrapped around everything. I was going to make this girl pay and she would fear the day she decided to turn me into her personal punching bag. It was time for a new start. A new Victoria Jackson was about to break through.
