When you said it was over, I knew it wasn't the end; it was the continuation. The ending of a relationship does not guarantee the evanescence of the feelings - of the love. That's why I'm still here in the verge of holding still and moving on, because heaven knows my love for you will not disappear until the places that I have once gone with you will turn back to being just places and not any longer be the home of our love; and it is only until the heart - this self-giving heart - that beat for you and you alone, will return to my chest and beat for its own being that I will learn, not to un-love you, but to love you differently.
And when this time comes - and I dearly hope this time comes - I will love you for the last time. I will love you until love itself surrenders to the aches of my heart. And then finger by finger, bit by bit, I will learn to let you go.
Author's note: This prose is solely inspired by the incredible Filipino spoken word artist, Mr. Juan Miguel Severo and his work "Sampung Bagay Na Natutunan Ko Mula Sa Mga Umiibig." You can check it out on the video pinned above. :)
