Every few days after the first date Steven would come by your house.

You'd take a walk and maybe do some grocery shopping.

Sometimes you'd go on a date.

You were happy spending time with Steve.

He was smart, sweet, funny, kind, respectful, handsome and he always stood up for what was right. Even if that meant taking a few hits.

You'd play nurse every once in a while when someone cat called you or said something Steven didn't like.

Now it was almost a month since you and Steven had met.

It's been a wonderful month and you just hoped he was as happy as you were.

You were currently in the process of getting ready for work at your crappy job when you heard your mother call you from the other room.

You walked into the hallway and heard light chatter.

You followed the voices to the front door.

It was Steve.

Your mother turned and smiled once she heard you approaching.

"Eleanor, you should have introduced me to Steve much earlier he is such a doll."

You nearly rolled your eyes at her enthusiasm.

"Thank you ma'am." He spoke. "Sorry I didn't call or anything. I just really wanted to talk before you went to work." He said in your direction.

You nodded and looked at your mom who was watching Steven watch you.

You rolled your eyes,"mom..."

She finally looked at you then back at Steve before realizing you wanted privacy.

"I'll be in the kitchen." She walked off.

You turned your attention back to Steve who was already looking at you.

He gave you a nervous smile."How have you been?"

"Good, I missed you." You mumbled the last part.

He smiled and gave a small breathy laugh,"I missed you too."

You smiled,"So what's up?"

"I um. I've been thinking..." he stopped not knowing where to go next.

You became nervous, what was he going to say?

Would he wanna stop seeing you?

Stop taking walks and going on dates?

Stop spending so much time together?

You anxiously fiddled with the hem of your shirt.

"It's okay Steven, just let it out. I'll understa-"

"Will you be my girl Elle?" He blurted out using the nickname he had given you. The nickname that only he used.

You were shocked.

That was unexpected. Pleasantly unexpected.

Your shocked expression soon turned into a happy one.

"Yes!"

Now it was his turn to be shocked.

"Really?"

You nodded.

"You sure?"

You nodded again.

"Seriously?"

You laughed and nodded again.

He smiled and hugged you tightly.

"I'm so glad you said yes."

"I'm so glad you asked." You rebutted.

"So dinner tomorrow night? As an official couple."

You grinned widely,"I'd love that."

"Great, I'll be by around 8."

"Okay. I should go finish up getting ready for work."

"You should let me walk you." He spoke.

Bad idea.

"It's a far walk. I'd be late." You didn't necessarily lie.

"Oh okay. Well tomorrow then."

You smiled and nodded before leaning in and kissing his cheek. "Tomorrow."

He smiled and turned round before walking away.

You headed back inside.

Your mom was no where in sight,"Eleanor." She sang.

You rolled your eyes and headed to the kitchen,"Yes mother."

"You know, he's a lot smaller than I pictured."

You groaned.

"Just saying."

"He's a great guy."

"Oh I'm sure." She added,"He was very sweet and well mannered. You should thank his mother."

You sighed,"I wish I could. She passed away a few years ago."

Her face softened,"Poor thing. His father?"

"He's gone too."

"Where does he live, who does he say with?"

"His best friend takes care of him but he's enlisted so he won't be around for much longer."

"Aw. Well tell him he's welcomed if he ever feels lonely."

"That's sweet mom. I'll be sure to let him know. I'm gonna finish getting dressed."

You headed to your room and grabbed the skin tight black dress you had placed on your bed and slid into it before rechecking your hair and makeup before slipping into a long trench coat and some heels.

You walked out and could hear your mothers faint snoring as she was asleep on the couch.

You draped a blanket over her, grabbed your bag and stepped out of the front door.

Your cab, of course, was already waiting for you.
You had your usual conversation about the news and how your mornings had gone.

Once you were at work you clocked in and began waiting tables for men who grossed you out.

Thinking of Steve helped you get through the long hours.

It was now almost time for the night shift and for you to clock out when there was a tap on your shoulder before a familiar voice spoke.

"Eleanor?"

"Bucky."
