You stroked Steve's hair as you laid with him in bed.

"Are you scared?" You asked.

"No. Are you?"

You nodded,"Terrified."

He sighed,"I know. I'm sorry."

You shook your head, "No. Don't be. You really want this. I know. I just want everything to be okay."

"It will be. Now go get ready. We're gonna be late."

You smiled and nodded, rolling off of Steve.

You and Steve had made love last night.

You wanted to remember him.

Every part.

You wanted to remember the man you fell in love with.

You looked back and smiled at him before scurrying off to the bathroom.

After you were dressed you exited the bathroom to see Steven sitting there.

"Ready?"

"Yup." You answered taking his hand and leaving the room.

---------
Steve turned to you as the car stopped.
"Now, Elle, relax. I can nearly hear your heart beating. It will be fine. These people know what they're doing."

"Okay." You breathed out.

You followed Steve out of the car.

"This is it?" You spoke.

Right then a beautiful woman walked out of the shop.

She was dressed in a military uniform.

"Hello, Rogers." She greeted.

"Agent Carter. Good to see you again."

Like hell it was.

"Hi. Agent Carter." You interjected. "I'm Eleanor."

"Eleanor, yes. Nice to meet you. This way."

You both followed her inside.

She briefly spoke to the woman at the desk and continued walking through the store.

The back door led to a basement which led to another door.

Long story short, a lot of walking and doors were involved.

After greeting a few people and talking Steve was ready to go.

"Okay." He said taking your hand.

"Okay." You spoke back. You leaned in and kissed his cheek. "I love you."

"I love you more doll."

He laid down on a table and you were ushered back and into a room over looking the experiment.

You wrung your hands nervously as you watched everything happen.

A light began to shine from the machine that then enclosed Steven.

They continued to crank up the machine and you heard Steve screaming.

You threw open the door and yelled down to them,"Turn it off! Turn it off."

One of the men said something to the other and the machine and they began to shut it down when you heard Steve again.

"No! I can do this."

They continued to crank the machine up.
It seemed to last forever as the light brightened.

Eventually it stopped.
