Chapter Eight: Pompous Royal

~I'm going into my fourth and final year of german, I can read it and make certain sentences but, not necessarily where I should be.~
(I graduated high school and almost but didn't go to college, for art, I still do art I'm just poor.)

Axel just glares at Merlon and bares his teeth.

Merlon rolls his eyes and glares at Axel,"Boy if you wanted your chance it should have been before me, although I still would have gotten her in the end anyway".

"No one is 'getting' me," Kaitlyn says looking at both the boys very offended.

Axel glares harshly at Merlon,"I'm just as old as you are, so I suggest you not call me boy, for I have been right next her and under your nose".

Kaitlyn looks at Axel confused, trying to silently connect the dots.

"King of the Wyrm shifters I presume, Axolot." Merlon mutters knowingly.

"Whoa, wait Axel-""It's Axolot," he interrupts raising his hand to interrupt her as he continues to glare at Merlon,"But indeed I am."

"Okay, first of all do not interrupt me," Kaitlyn bites out glaring at Axel," Second of all, get your dirty ass hand out of my face, and finally, your new attitude just makes you seem like a pompous ass so you can go fuck yourself."

Kaitlyn pokes her finger into his chest menacingly, "I thought we were friends."

Merlon snorts trying to cover his laughter. Axolot merely glares at her before shaking his head," I will not put up with this disrespect."

"I will not put up with disrespect," Kaitlyn mocks him a babyish tone," Shut up, your stupid act before was preferable, now you're just a silver spoon having puss."

Axolot's nostrils flare and he glared at her. His gaze slides back to Merlon who is already glaring at the man. A staring contest is created between the two large men once again making Kaitlyn sigh in annoyance. Something catches her eye and she turns slightly grinning when she realizes what it is. Kaitlyn slowly slides towards her trusty bat that happens to be next to her a few feet away.

As the boys continue to throw glares at eachother Kaitlyn interrupts them,"So can you both maybe stop measuring your imaginary penises again and get this show on the road?"

Neither men look at her as they both continue their internal battle.

"Come on, I either want to see some blood between the two of you or I'll make you bleed myself," Kaitlyn says with annoyance.

Axolot evilly chuckles, "Come on, Dragon King is staring hopelessly at the enemy all you can do? If so that's pretty pathetic, unless of course-" He's cut off by a bat hitting him in the back of the head. Axolot's body hits the floor with a muffled thud.

"You talked too much, backstabber,"Kaitlyn says with a disgusted look while pulling the bat out of his skull.

Merlon chuckles,"Now since I seem to be the good guy here, can we go?"

Kaitlyn sighs," Whatever, it's not like I have a choice."

Before she steps out, with Merlon in tow, she puts her bat on her shoulder, wary of the nails before muttering,"I don't even know why I dropped this amazing weapon. It makes me feel crazy like Harley Quinn."

Merlon faintly chuckles shaking his head,"Would you like to walk or ride a dragon?"

Kailtyn just looks at him stopping," Well I hate walking,  and I've never ridden a dragon before".

"Dragon it is," Merlon mutters before disappearing around the corner of a building.

He was gone for more than ten minutes before Kaitlyn hears loud footsteps and sees an ebony black dragon walking out stretching its legs as it came in front of her, ground shaking slightly with each step.

Kailtlyn looks up at him in awe,"Nice". She then goes up to his side and runs her hands along his scales. The texture is a very satisfying roughness that shocks her. She focuses and waits for him to get down low enough for her to climb on. Merlon lowers just enough for her to scramble up his scaled side. It takes her a few tries before she manages to get a grip and pull herself onto his back.

After she gets on Merlon gauges whether she's stable enough before setting off in flight. The lift off gives her a bit of whiplash and the wind blows through her hair at an angle making her choke on her hair. Merlon just laughs in her mind.

"So am I going to become one of those disappearing women?" Kaitlyn asks glaring at Merlon for the hair thing.

Merlon grunts in reply, before flying faster.

"That wasn't really an answer," Kaitlyn says shaking her head and sighing.

"Disappearing women? I don't normally pay attention to human news," Merlons voice echoes in her head making her jump a little.

Kaitlyn huffs at his little snort,"Well yeah, more than one has gone missing, but the bodies they find aren't ever belonging to the women."

Merlon hums,"They might have been a dragons mate. However, wyrms have recently been targeting every species, but their own. I'm investigating this as of a few months ago."

"So about the time they began? Well I'm glad someone was. Humans police are worthless." Kaitlyn says rolling her eyes.

Suddenly, she sputters and Merlon hums in question, atleast she assumed, "I didn't know there were bugs this high, I choked on one and got another in my eye."

Merlons snort could be felt under her legs as he laughed in her mind.

"So if you're investigating this, do you have any theories?" Kaitlyn asks curiously after a bit.

"I have one as of now, the wyrms are kidnapping them to breed and throwing the ones that are too old in places the humans will find them," Merlon responds gravely.

"That actually explains a lot, do you have any evidence?" Kaitlyn asks.

"I don't need any, wyrms would be the only species stupid enough," Merlon grumbles out.

Clearly not wanting to respond anymore Merlon picks up his pace towards a destination only known to him.
