"Ops just confirmed. She's down, 1k west."

"Let's go get her." Flag's face was grim. "The mission's not over."

"Nah, it is for me," Floyd said. "We had a deal."

"Without Waller, you got nothing. Crossbones, fall in."

Athena stiffened. She sat near one of the water heaters, her back to Flag as she blankly stared out at the burning city.

"Crossbones." When Flag still didn't get an answer he yelled her name and tried to get her, but Chato put his arm in front of Flag, stopping him.

"Leave her, man. She just lost her best friend. She gotta get over that, but it's gonna take some time."

"She's a smart gal," Digger agreed. "She'll join us eventually." Flag seemed unwilling, so Digger urged, "C'mon mate."

Flag glanced back at Athena and left.

She sat there for a moment before saying, "Edwards, get out here and stop hiding like some sort of creeper."

"I am not a creeper."

"I said like a creeper. I am a creeper."

"No you're not."

"Flattery doesn't do anything for you in regards to my personal wellbeing, so knock that shit off."

He walked around one of the vents and sat down beside her. "I'm.... I'm sorry."

"Don't apologize, it's not your fault," Athena said.

"Yeah, but I should've believed you about Waller."

"Nobody believes any warnings regarding Waller," Athena said. Just ask Flag.

"That I did figure out myself," Edwards said. After a moment of silence he said, "You said earlier that everyone has their version of hell and heaven. I know.... okay, I know this sounds like sentimental crap, but, I think that wherever Harley is right now, she's with Joker, so she'll be okay."

"That's true," Athena said. "All her craziness was because of that guy."

"You ever meet him?"

"Sadly, I've met him several times."

"He's that bad?"

"Bad?! The guy's a dick! " Athena started laughing. "And if you can believe it, he can't take a joke!"

Edwards looked shocked, but laughed right after. "The Joker can't take a joke?"

"I know, it's crazy!"

"He's crazy!"

"True!"

Athena knew it was really wrong to be making fun of a dead guy, especially when he was her best friend's boyfriend, but she figured it was her way of coping with it. The even weirder part was that she was making fun of him with an soldier, of all people.

"Have you ever been in love like that?" Edwards asked after they'd stopped laughing.

"Me? Never," Athena said. "Harley's love for that guy is one of a kind."

"Okay, true. So I'll rephrase it, then. Have you ever just been in love, period?"

Athena frowned, trying to think back. "Not that I can remember."

"How could you forget about something like that?" Edwards asked.

"I didn't choose to." When he raised his eyebrows in confusion Athena sighed. "You'd probably learn about this eventually, but..." She pointed at him. "I'm gonna tell you something that only two other people know about, so you have to promise you won't tell anyone else, 'kay?"
