The pair walked up onto the boat and took a seat towards the back, they settled in their uncomfortable seats waiting for the boat to float off towards their first stop.
"Are you excited?"
"I suppose"
The man gave her a questioning look, "how could you not possibly be excited?"
"What if something goes wrong?"
"I've told you a million times, you think to much" he shook his head staring off into the ocean water
"It's just, so many things could go wrong" she shrugged
The man moved closer towards the woman and lifted his right hand around her, "you'll be fine" he chuckled giving her a light squeeze
"If something happens, I get the right to say I told you so!"
"Okay, I give you, Mercy Langton the right to tell me I told you so if something indeed goes wrong" he gave a big nod of his head
"Good, I'm usually right you know"
"I know" he sighed as Pickett slowly peaked out from his coat
"How does he stay in there for so long? It's summer and incredibility hot" the woman smiled gently picking up the fragile creature
"Hey, were surrounded by Muggles and if they see Pickett who knows what would happen" Newt panicked
"He's fine, everyone is inside the boat anyways, where it's more cool"
"But-" she cut him off
"Look who's thinking to much now, Scamander"
They both laughed as Newt placed Pickett back into his coat pocket, it was a better idea that Pickett stayed hidden until no one was around. They sat in comfortable silence looking out at the view, the sun was now setting and a beautiful mixture of pink and yellow covered the sky with a few clouds. They had been on the boat for so long already and Mercy was becoming increasingly irritated with how long it was taking.
"When are we getting off this moving death trap?" She said laying down on the wooden bench beside Newt
"A few more hours" he hummed
"Whyyy" she whined
"Because it takes a long time to get to New York"
"New York? We're going to New York" she smiled
"Yes, and we will be there soon so stop complaining"
"I've always wanted to go there"
"I know, that's why we're going there first" he smiled poking the woman's nose
She laughed, smiling at the boy "thanks for taking me with you on your journey"
"Our journey! And, anytime"
