"You're here," she said to him as she eyed him up and down. She couldn't help but notice how good he looked. Wearing black jeans and a light gray shirt, he stood there, grinning. It broke her heart knowing that what she was about to say had a big chance of replacing his his handsome grin with a frown, or maybe even tears wetting it.

He walked toward her, before enveloping her in a hug and breathing in her sweet scent. To him, she was his world, and he had learnt its edges and curves so well that if he was asked to make a portrait of it, he was sure that he could draw it so perfectly. It scared him sometimes, knowing that if she left, his world would just collapse.

"I missed you," he sighed into her ear, kissing it lightly.

It was her turn to sigh.

"Shawn, I have to tell you something."

And that's when he almost lost his mind. He knew her so well that he almost knew what she had to say. Almost. He unwrapped his arms from her body, trying to brace himself for what she had to say.

"I don't love you anymore," she blurted out all of a sudden, not giving him any chance to speak and ask her what she had wanted to say.

The color drained from his face and his mouth felt dry. He blinked once and twice, trying to figure out what he had done. His heart ached, knowing that after that night, she wouldn't be his anymore. His world wouldn't be his anymore. He felt tears threatening to pour out, but he didn't let them. He wasn't crying in from of her. He wasn't.

"Why?" he asked, his breaths short and heavy. "After almost three years-" he choked on his own words, his voice shaking.

"Please don't cry," she said, biting her lip out of nervousness. She didn't know why she was nervous - it was probably something related to letting someone you'd loved for so long go.

He listened to her. Even though she didn't give him any explanation, he was okay with it. He couldn't be mad at her anyway, he loved her too much for that. So he stood there, wiping his tears as he sniffled.

It broke her heart seeing him cry, especially when he'd never cried in front of her. Seeing him so vulnerable made her want to cry too.

"Can you stay the night?" Shawn asked, a forced smile plastered on his face. "Just tonight."

"Of course," she replied, hugging him.

Was this because she still loved him? Or was this because of pity? She'd never know, but she knew that she was doing this and that if she changed her mind, he would be there.

They walked upstairs, to his room. A place where they spent their first nights of being a couple together, doing things they shouldn't be doing. A place where he had written a song just for her and sung it to her to make her feel better about things. A place that held so many memories she just couldn't wipe out from her mind. She would miss this place when she left.

"Y/N?" she heard him call softly as they lied on his bed, their legs a tangled mess and his arms around her and her head on his chest.

"Yeah?"

"I just wanted to know that I love you, even if you don't love me back," he said, sniffling. "So so much, you don't even know."

She was speechless. Was she supposed to tell him that she loved him back? Or was she just supposed to stay there and listen to him for the last time? But one thing she knew, was that he loved her so deeply that he wasn't even affected by the fact that she didn't tell him a reason.

Shawn felt her breaths being short and regular, and he figured that she was asleep. He gently stood up, afraid of waking her up. He wasn't going to sleep. He wanted every single minute to pass with him knowing about it.

Walking down the stairs, he walked into his tiny studio and picked his guitar up. The melody of a new song played in his mind, and he was determined to make it into a real one.

Before he knew what he was doing, he was strumming chords on his guitar as he sang the words of a new song.

"Stay here and lay here, right in my arms. It's only a moment before you're gone. And I am keeping you warm," he sang, before quickly scribbling it down on to his notebook.

He paused for a while, taking deep breaths to prevent him from crying in the middle of the night.

"Just act like you love me so I can go on," he whispered to himself, a tear running down his cheek.

He quickly wrote it down, and started to sing the chorus again, just to have it buried inside his mind.

Meanwhile, she was standing next to the doorframe as she listened to his soft voice singing this song she had never heard before. She knew it was about her, and she couldn't help but feel guilty for putting him through this.

He sighed, putting his guitar down. Sitting on the small chair in the studio, he cried. He cried because he wasn't going to have someone to love anymore. He cried because she was leaving tomorrow. But mostly, he cried because he loved her, but she didn't have the same feelings toward him.

And he would do anything, anything, for her to love him again. Even if it was just pretend.
