Shawn's POV

As she lied there, tossing back and forth, trying to get into a more comfortable position to sleep in, I was wide awake.

I didn't know what had been keeping me awake in the first place, and preferred not knowing because it just might be more difficult for me to actually rest.

She sighed in annoyance after a while.

"Can't sleep?" I asked her, whispering.

She just nodded.

"Stop trying to sleep, then. It'll cause more stress," I told her.

She sighed once again, before sitting up. "I'm so tired."

"I know you are, baby. I am too. The adrenaline is still there for me," I said.

"Mine's still there, too. Thanks, Shawn," she said sarcastically, followed by a laugh at the end.

I chuckled. "Tell me about the show. Which part did you like the most?"

"Are you serious? The whole thing is what I like the most," she replied, pressing a kiss on my cheek before snuggling into me.

I smiled. "Was it really that good?"

"Yes it was!" she insisted, her voice muffled by my shirt.

I rubbed her back, trying to get her to sleep. I didn't want her to feel awful the next day.

"Get some sleep, hun."

"But you're not even sleeping. I don't want you to be alone."

"You'll never be alone," her and I both sang, before laughing lightly. Moments like these were why our relationship was worth it, even through the longest distances.

"I love you, Shawn. So so much. Thanks for tonight." She removed her head from my chest, looking into my eyes. Caressing my cheek, she smiled lightly.

I smiled back. "I love you more." I kissed her.

"I guess we're staying up, yeah?" she questioned.

"Whatever you want, baby." I adjusted my sitting position, resting my back on the headboard. "You can tell me about the show, if you want to."

"Of course I want to. It'll be my favorite story to tell our kids," she said casually.

I loved how we could talk about kids so casually, it made me feel like she really wanted to be with me.

I decided it was the right time.

I rolled over, getting something out of the drawer of the nightstand. "Baby?" I called.

She looked up from her fingers, looking at me.

"I know this isn't the appropriate way of doing this, but I know you won't care," I mumbled, before taking a deep breath and opening the ring box in my hands.

"Shawn..." she breathed out, tears pooling in her eyes. "I-"

"Don't worry, it's a promise ring," I informed her. "So, will you promise to stay with me?"

She sighed in relief. "Yes. Of course. There's no one I'd stay with except you," she replied, almost crying.

I grinned. "Thank you," I replied, kissing her a bunch of times.

"Stop." She giggled.

I pulled hand into mine, slipping the ring on her finger.

We were quiet for a while, just kissing in silence.

"Do you think I can actually sleep now?" she asked.

I scratched the back of my neck, feeling slightly guilty. "Sorry," I apologized.

"We don't have the time to be sorry," she sang, making me grin.

"So baby, be the life of the party."

We spent the rest of the night cuddling, singing, and just talking. It seemed plain, boring even, but when it was with her, nothing was ever boring.

And I knew that she was the one.
