Interrupted

Each and every time,

He's interrupted,

Makes him that much less prone to open his mouth next time.

Each time he speaks,

And someone directly changes the topic on him,

Makes him feel like what he had to say is unimportant.

Each time he speaks,

And he stutters,

Or slurs his words,

And people laugh,

Makes him not want to talk that much more.

BUT,

Each time he speaks,

And someone listens,

Without interruption,

He feels that much more important.

Each time he speaks,

And no one changes the topic on him,

He feels he didn't waste his time speaking.

Each time he speaks,

And stutters or slurs,

And no one laughs at him or makes a crude remark,

He feels a little less like a mistake,

And a little more human.
