        "My love," the dark colt whispered, "are you sure you can handle her? Wouldn't it be better for me to take her somewhere where she will fit in?"

        The beautiful mare shook her head. "She will live here, with me and her sister. You cannot take my little girl away from her mother. She will be happier here." The mare was stubborn, and the dark colt sighed.

        "I suppose you are right. But the responsibilities that will fall on her shoulders may have drastic consequences if she is not able to handle herself, consequences that may bring about the downfall of all ponies. You must be willing to accept this possibility," he told his mate.

        "Of course," she replied, looking more stubborn than ever, yet somehow kept her dignity and pride in her glowing gold eyes. "Luna is my daughter."
