Chapter 36: (Adam's P.O.V.)

I was shocked when I heard what Mia said but didn't make a noise for her sake as I continued to rock her back and forth reassuringly. She needed rest and I wanted to give her that. She fell asleep not to long after her revelation and I continued to hold her, needing her in my arms longer.

I wanted to storm out of there and rip Dominic limb from limb. I want him to feel the pain my baby's gone through. I wanted him to beg for death. After begging, I would keep him alive longer and torture him more until he was nothing before giving delivering him to death. But I couldn't do that now. I needed to be here with Mia. I was scared to leave her alone for one second.

I'm scared I'll wake up with her still gone and still be in that monsters arms. That was my worst nightmare. I needed her more than anything. She needed me too. I vowed I would be next to her side until she felt she could handle it on her own and then I would stay by her side longer.

Her body went limp when she fell asleep and I held her close, not moving for a long time before eventually laying her down on the bed under the covers. I kissed her forehead lovingly before walking out onto the balcony just outside a door to vent off some anger but I could still keep an eye on her.

If I was not holding her, I would always keep her in my sight.

I needed to vent some of my anger off toward Dominic. Since I couldn't torture and kill him now, this was the only relief I got. He wanted to kill my mate and make her a vampire?! Also make her his mate instead! Never!

When I looked back at my little mate, I realized I needed to get a doctor to check her out. I needed to make sure she was physically fine. Mentally, I knew she most likely was not fine and I was going to help her through that no matter what. I would do whatever it took.

Once I called the doctor and vented out some more anger, I walked back into the room and crawled into bed beside my mate. I pulled her close up against my body and she cuddled close to me. She turned around while she slept and grabbed a hold of me.

I was perfectly fine with this and I held her tight in response as I waited for the doctor to show. I closed my eyes and rested my head above hers and rubbed her back slowly. Any rest she could get would be great, both body and mind.

The doctor showed up about twenty minutes later. I left the stairs open for him so he could climb up but as soon as he was up here, I had them disappear. I used a remote control for the stairs and my magic was used to keep the trees alive and not die or look dead because of the stairs. I did not need to use it every time thankfully.

As soon as the doctor arrived, I slowly untangled myself from her arms to not disturb her. I then walked over to him. He was old enough to be my dad. In fact, he was my dad's cousin. He looked about twenty eight years old though because werewolves aged much slower than humans once they reached about the age of twenty two or twenty five. I was twenty four and looked only twenty two still. Mates of werewolves, even if their human, aged slower also once their mate was found. My dad decided to hand over the reins early to me. I've kept my pack well protected, except for this last thing where my mate was stolen.

When he saw her sleeping, he commented, "I'll keep her sleeping. It's best if she stays asleep. She most likely needs it." He then took a syringe out of his bag and injected something into her arm to keep her asleep while he examined her.

"You better not hurt her," I growled as I sat down next to her, holding her hand.

"I won't," he answered, "but I do need you to change her so the process will be smoother. It is hard to examine a person to see if they're wearing jeans."

I growled and stood up, knowing he was right. "Don't look."

"Wasn't planning to alpha." He turned around, waiting for me to change my mate into more suitable clothes.

I kissed my mates head lovingly before changing her into one of my t-shirts. I moved her the least amount as possible before sitting next to her again and taking her hand. "Done."

He turned around and started examining her, looking for either broken bones, bruises, or whatever else may be wrong with her. "Well Alpha, it doesn't look like she has any broken bones. Just a few bruises that will be healed up in a few days. He even did some test. Nothing major. Physically she's okay, mentally though, that's the hard part. I don't have any suggestions beside you know what or being there for her. You really are going to be what gets her through this."

"Thank you. Leave now." I didn't want him to be around my mostly undressed mate any longer, even if he did have a mate of his own and children.

"Makes sure she gets plenty of rest also. She'll need it." I nodded in reply and he left once again.

Once he was completely gone, I crawled into bed again, wrapping her up in my arms and resting my head against hers.

Before I fell asleep myself next to her I said, "You're my everything. My whole world. Without you, my life is pointless. There is no light in my life without you."

Next chapter! Yay! I added that last line in there because it is Valentines Day. Which reminds me...

Or if your like me who has no plans, (or ever gone out or never had one ounce of a possible relationship before) enjoy what you're doing! I for one wrote this for you guys tonight and enjoyed a new story I read here on Wattpad.

Also, I won't be updating tomorrow. Sorry. It is never possible for me to update on Wednesdays and possibly Thursdays because my day is completely full. If I do not update Thursday, expect an update on Friday.

Anyways, what do you think is going to happen next? There is a lot more to this story that still needs to be written. My biggest challenge is how I'm going to get there. Trust me, there is a lot of this story left to go. It is not close to being done.
