I've met his mother before and I found her intimidating. She kept tryinv to make me comfortable and she did a good job at it, but I knew I would always find her slightly intimidating.

I haven't met his father however and I wasn't quite sure what to expect. I didn't know if I would meet him today either. I was prepared for either option however so it was okay.

We brought Liam with us also. I wasn't going to leave him. He could hang out and watch tv while we talked.

We left early that day to meet her before lunch. It was best to get it over with and the need to know was killing me. It would satisfy my curiosity and help me figure out how to better care for him. I would know better if I was caring for him correctly or not though I thought I was doing a good job at it so far. I didn't think I was doing anything wrong.

Adam knocked announcing himself before walking right in. He did grow up there so it also was his house. Liam stayed next to me as we walked in. It opened up into an entry way which led to the open floor plan for the living room, kitchen, and dining room. It was a really nice place with a kind of outdoorsy feeling with a touch of his mothers decorating. It was easy to tell she decorated it with both of their styles combined. Anyways, it was really pretty.

As soon as we were in, Adam told Liam he could sit on the couch and watch TV so he did.

Just then, his mom strolled on in and her eyes landed on Liam. She knew about the situation already since Adam told her everything. She looked like she was focusing on him for something but what I didn't know.

Liam didn't seem to care she was watching him. He knew she was. When she stopped, she instead focused her eyes on both of us and I once again felt slightly intimidated. "Come, I believe I know what he is."

I shared a look with Adam and followed her when she turned around and left after I glanced at Liam to see he was okay. He was and I was content with it.

We followed her down the hall into what looked like and office inside a small library. There was a desk in the middle of the room with a black rolly chair behind it and two other gray chairs in front of it.

On top of the desk was a closed old book. Mary, short for Marigold as I learned from Adam, quickly walked behind her desk and snapped fingers. It opened up right away to a certain page and she looked up at us. "There is something you should know about him first," she started, "I sensed great power in him when I saw him. It's power I believe didn't exist anymore but I was wrong, we all were."

I nodded along. I knew Liam was powerful but I didn't know how powerful but I guess this made it sound like he was much more powerful than I originally thought. "Okay, so what is he?" I couldn't hold it back anymore, I had to know.

"I believe he is an Owat," Mary answered. "They're a mix of werewolf and werecat. In the beginning, a union between the two caused a human to be born but the parents didn't want their children to be defenseless growing up in a dangerous supernatural world so they hired a powerful witch to make him supernatural. The witch combined the best of both parent's  powers into the child without realizing they created possibly one of the most powerful creatures on earth. She also didn't realize when she did this, all future matings created these species. The only way one is born is by these two mating or Owats mating with other of their kind. This is why they are so rare and thought to be extinct, not to mention they were outlawed or banned by the Council years ago because they feared their power. They started hunting them down and killing them whenever they found one because of their fear. They knew if they came to enough power, they could rule the world and they didn't want that. Bans were also placed on the werewolf and werecat couples so they couldn't create more. All of this is still going on today. I'm guessing since you found Liam, his parents hid him and themselves for all their lives and there are probably many others hiding also."

"It all adds up, everything you guys said and what I felt. He is an Owat, there is no proof against it. He's going to have to learn to hide his power from others so he is not hunted and killed. He's okay on pack land, no one can actually tell he is supernatural since he smells human to you guys. Witches can sense the power though and a few other supernatural creatures that are more powerful but not many."

She turned the book toward us so we could see it and she directed, "look for yourself. You may need this. Keep it."

I looked down at the chapter in the book about Owats. I have no idea how she found it but I was grateful. It looked like everything on the page so far was the same as Liam. There was also more we didn't know about. It was surprising really. All of it was.

"Thank you. This is really helpful. I'm so happy you found it. You have no idea how grateful I really am," I told her.

"No problem sweetie, I am happy to help. No matter what it is."

"Okay," I nodded as Adam took the book from me and looked over he page.

"Yes," he said thoughtfully, "all of this is adding up. It all makes sense, he has to be one. Thanks mom. I had my suspicions he was one but I needed to confirm it with you and now you have."

"You're welcome, now just keep the boy hidden until he learns to hide the power from everyone. He'll still be able to use it of course at will but no one will be able to sense it. It would be nice for you guys to come and visit me more and bring him here, I bet I could help him."

"We will mom, don't worry," Adam assured her.

"Great, and there's much more to talk about but you guys have much more to learn and research if you want to understand them fully. I'm also sure you won't learn everything there is until Liam is older or you happen to come across others."

That was a surprise for sure. We left not to long after a few more words. I grabbed Liam on our way out. I knew he much rather play outside than watch TV but it was a good way to keep him distracted and safe. He didn't mind it so much because it wasn't the worst thing in the world for a six year old to not like.

As we went back to the tree house, I couldn't help but feel like life just got either a lot more interesting or complicated.

Well, here's the next chapter! I know it's horrible, (I really need to fix this chapter) but you know what he is now! He is something made up from my own mind that I said many chapters ago in an authors note. Who guessed it? And we have a lot more to learn about this species. Maybe it won't be all in this book but in another I have planned, yay! Off track, anyways, who's excited? I know I am. Is there anything you really want to know? Any questions? And if you want to help develop this new species, I'm all ears! I have a good idea what I want to do but I will gladly take suggestions and probably incorporate them.
