chapter twelve: falling in love

     i walked with veronica up to her room, her mom was at work and she had already called for her to come home. veronica had explained that archie was drunk and stubborn and wouldn't stop when she said no. i was really mad at archie right now and i didn't want to see him, but i know tomorrow at school we'll have to talk about it.

    i couldn't do anything but lay there with her. i stroked her hair and she buried her head into my dress. some music that had been left on when she left was still playing but it seemed to calm veronica down. she was fine but i was being my annoying self
"veronica you're sure you're okay, right?" i asked, still worried. i really did like veronica and if anything happened to her...
"i'm fine, betty." veronica replied. i could tell she was getting on edge, so we both shut up and fell asleep together.

by the time we both woke up we were already late for school and my mom didn't call to check up on me, which wasn't a surprise. she didn't care much for me or where i was, and if i told her i was at veronica's she would freak.

"do you just want to go watch a movie downstairs?" i asked veronica quietly. we both changed into new clothes, veronica let me wear something of hers which ended up being a little tighter than i liked. she nodded. her phone was going off with texts from archie asking what happened last night and i wanted to take her mind off of it. her mom had gone off to work a few hours ago and would be back later in the evening.

i put a random dvd i found of "10 things i hate about you" into the player and sat down with veronica on her dark brown couch. the sun was shining through the windows and birds chirped softly outside. i personally loved the movie.

ding!
my phone went off and i went to check it. it was a text from jughead,

Jughead 🍔: Hey, where are you? We need to work on the newspaper today. Also Archie's acting strange. He keeps asking about Veronica, what happened?

Betty: hanging with veronica today. can't say what happened exactly yet, i'll update.

i replied to the message before putting my phone on silent and cuddling with veronica. she was paying attention to the movie, i remember her telling me it was one of her favourites so i decided not to interrupt and just lay my head on her shoulder.

"hey, betty?" veronica spoke up after around an hour into the movie. the silence was beginning to get me on edge so i was glad she spoke up,
"yeah?" i turned my head to face her.
"i'm falling in love with you." she breathed and my head spun. i never thought someone would tell me that, let alone veronica. it took a minute to process but i smiled, "yeah. i might be too."

fluffy veronica is what i live for so here's a little chapter before i update again tomorrow yay!! also riverdale tonight woo (and they finished filming 😢). i'm afraid their relationship might be moving too fast so if you feel like it is please tell me!
