~Flashback
"Mother?" The Riolu said, tapping on her arm. She glanced down at him, giving him a sweet smile.
"Yes, Silver?" She said, giving him a pat on the head.
"Why was father like?" Her smile faded slightly. She looked away and scratched her head.
"Well...he was just like you. He was brave, smart, and just as handsome." She playfully pinced his cheek, making him giggle.
Her face suddenly drooped. She looked at the floor. "And then...he was gone." She said quietly. "The world took him away."
The Riolu gazed up at his depressed mother. She kept staring at the floor, then she turned her face towards him.
"Silver, promise me something." The Riolu nodded. "Anything, mother." She smiled and placed her hand on his hand.
"Never join the Savage Clan. They are evil. They killed your father just to let the world know about themselves. Always stick with their enemies, the Yellow Bloods, no matter how they act. The Clan is the true enemy. One day, avenge your father. Do you understand?"
The Riolu nodded. His face was serious. "I will, mother. I won't ever trust those murderers." She smiled and kissed his forehead.
"I know you won't. You're too good for this world, Silver. When you grow up, I want you to show this world..."
What we are and why we exsist.

Ultra opened his eye. The memories in his head were dissapearing.
'Useless memories.' He thought disgustingly. 'Dishonest mother...'
He rubbed his slashed eye. The scar was still painful. No matter how hard he tried, the pain wouldn't dissapear.
He heard a knock from his door. Groaning, he got out of bed and walked over to it.
"What?" He answered grumpily, opening it. A Zoroark stood outside. It had a ponytail, black fur, and some red streaks here and there.
Ultra rolled his eyes. "What do you want, Umber?" She giggled. "Oh you...typical Ultra." Ultra couldn't help but smile at her.
"I just came over here to tell you that Master wants to see you." She explained. "Are you ready?" Ultra nodded.
"What's it about?" Umber shrugged. "Beats me. He never said why. Well come on, hurry up!"
She went ahead and dissapeared. Ultra rolled his eyes again, but this time laughed under his breath.
He went back into his room and gathered his bag, then followed her. As he raced out the door, a torn, withered, old photograph fell from his bag.
It had the picture of a baby Riolu in his mother's arms, who was a Braixen. There was a Lucario standing next to them.
The picture had words, too. Hovering over the Braixen was the text, "Topaz, Queen of the New Empire. The Lucario's text was torn, but it was still obvious that his name was Platinum.
Finally, the text next to the Riolu said this: "Son of the King and Queen, and Heir of the Empire. His name is..."
Silver.

The Lucario and the Zoroark bowed before their master, who loomed over them on his throne, built on top of a pyramid-like structure.
He eyed them intimidatingly. "The Red remains at the Paradise Gateway. You've done a good job locating him. Now, it's time to retrieve him." Ultra nodded. "Yes Master."
The Master turned to Umber. "And you, Umber. You have not only proved a faithful assistant to him, but also an undying friend who would risk everything. For that, you shall be rewarded." Umbra looked pleased. "Thank you Master!"
The Master smiled. "Meet the others at the Fairgrounds. They are waiting for you." He turned back to Ultra. "As for you, you're mission is to ambush the Paradise and retrieve the Red. I believe you can do it." Ultra nodded. "Yes Master!"
"Then, you have been dismissed." The Master dissapeared into thin air. Ultra turned to Umber. "I wish I got the reward. I mean, I did pass the mission." Umber smiled.
"You'll get it soon. Don't worry. Who knows, maybe you'll get more than one reward." She winked and walked away. "Good luck." She called. "You're going to need it."
Once again, Ultra rolled his eyes, but laughed quietly.

~Flashback
The Riolu screamed as his eye was being tortured. A blade slowly sliced through the lens, then wounded the pupils. Blood spewed everywhere.
The pain was unimaginable. He was losing his voice from screaming too much. It felt like someone had inserted melted lead into his eye.
"Stop!" He yelled for the millionth time. "Please! It hurts! Stop!" The Pokemon ignored him and contained to slice his eye open.
Finally, the Pokemon let go, and the Riolu fell to the ground, his eye bleeding like crazy. He cupped his eyes with his hands and screamed again.
The Pokemon took off. By now, other Pokemon had arrived. A group of Pokemon the Riolu never would've thought appeared to HELP him.
The Savage Clan.
They all gathered around him and started to treat his eye. A few comforted him while the rest of them started to stich it up. When they were done, they carried the Riolu, who had passed out from the pain, to their home.
When the Riolu woke up, he found himself on a different bed. It was soft, and it felt comfortable. He wondered where he was. But most of all, he wondered why the Savage Clan had saved him.
Suddenly, the door to the room opened, and another Pokemon appeared. "You're awake!" She cried, giving him a hug, much to his surprise.
"C-could you l-let go?" He stuttered, not knowing why she was hugging him. The Pokemon pulled back.
"Sorry. I heard what happened and I couldn't help but feel sorry for the pain you've been through. I'm Umber. Welcome to the Mystic Empire."
***
Umber had explained how the Savage Clan were not the enemy, and how they helped people in need. Their name wasn't the Savage Clan, but the Mystic Empire.
The Riolu was confused, so he decided to meet their leader. When he approached the heavily decorated door to the throne room, he slowly opened the giant door.
All of a sudden, the door closed behind him when he entered, leaving him locked into a room filled with darkness. He saw a large chair perched on a pyramid in front of him.
A figure sat on that chair. It sent shivers up the Riolu's spine. This made the Pokemon smile.
"Welcome, young one. Don't be afraid. I see you're still wondering why we, you're so called enemy, are aiding you? Well, we are not you're enemy. The true enemy are the Yellow Bloods. One of their members slashed your eye."
"B-but why would they do that?" The Riolu said, still trembling. "They are supposed to be the saviours of the world, aren't they?"
The Pokemon's grin grew wider. He shook his head. "That is incorrect. What you've heard is incorrect. The Mystic Empire was fooled by the Yellow Bloods." He leaned his head in.
"Let me tell you the true story. The story of our history. The story..."
About how it all began.
